June 28, 1946 - May 29, 2023
Brenda Carolyn Evans Tyson, lovingly known as 'Nan', went to her final resting place in heaven on May 29, 2023 at age 76. She was born June 28, 1946 in Judsonia, Arkansas to Charles A. Evans and Verna Whitaker.
Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Verna; her daughter, Cheryl Usrey; 2 sisters, Charlene Evans and Judy Evans Little and her husband, Charlie P. Tyson.
Brenda Carol began her career with the Arkansas State Police in 1979, when she attended the ASP Trooper School. Her first assignment was an Undercover Narcotics Officer, then she became a Driver's License Examiner. She said that was the most dangerous job of all. She then started patrolling the streets of Jefferson County and went on to the most rewarding job of them all, Crimes Against Children in the ASP CID unit. She spoke proudly of getting on the floor and talking to the children and doing whatever it took to make the children happy. Brenda Carol was well known for catching the Blue Light Rapist during this time. She retired from Arkansas State Police in 2006 after 27 years of service.
Nan loved sitting on the back porch listening to the birds and wind chimes. She always said it was her favorite place. Nan loved the outdoors, enjoyed gardening, fishing, dancing and laughing. She was a character, always full of energy and never met a stranger. To know her was to love her.
She was a member of the North Hills Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Brenda Carol is survived by her son, Robert Usrey; grandson, Matthew Usrey and her brother, Roger Evans.
Nan has impacted so many lives and is loved by many close friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 JFK Blvd, North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Thoughts & prayers for Brenda Carol & all of her family. She will be missed by many.

A terrific lady, friend and Trooper. She always had a smile ready and loved to joke around. She will be greatly missed. â¤ï¸
This saddens my heart during this time to see of this wonderful lady’s passing . During the time that I was a new comer to ASP she was my inspiration as I got to know her more with Arkansas State Police Association Representative. She will be missed by many .
I was in Troop School with Brenda and we have had several reunions. I loved working with her, and her friendship was an honor!
Troop School 79B forever !
Condolences to, & prayers for, Brenda's family. I know she will be missed by so many.
Brenda Carol was always a sweet, friendly, happy person. I met her when she was on troop school and every time I saw her she remained the same.
I am so sorry for your loss.
BC was my Bestie. We became fast friends in 1996 and were each others 'ride or die' from that moment on. She was a very classy lady with a sense of humor like no other. RIP my sister. I'll see you again.
