Dorris G. Lemons, 89, of Jonesboro passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. She was born on April 28, 1934 in Burnt Hill, AR to David and Myrtle (Gay) Spurlock. Dorris retired from Tennessee Department of Welfare. After retirement she went on to substitute teaching, starting in her 80's. She was a nurturing and loving lady who made everyone she met feel special. Dorris was a member of the Brookland Church of Christ. Outside of church, she loved taking care of her grands and shopping at Kohl's. She was a mother figure to all of her nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband of 67 years, R. D. Lemons; son, Garry Lemons; brother, Aubrey (Jack) Spurlock and sisters, Dicey Brown, Thelma Hagar, Jewell Lawrence, Movita Maxwell, Vercilla Spurlock and Patricia Spurlock.
Those left to cherish her memory are son, Mark and Mary Lemons of Atoka, TN; grandchildren, Leslie and Bay Phommachak, Lindsey and Jack Ardale, Brittany Nordan, Dava Skaggs, Katrinia and Chris Kelly, Andrea and Cliff Smith, Joshua Lemons, Elisha and Daniel Guiette; great grandchildren, Jonathan and Aliyah Phommachak, Aylen Ardale, Kloee and Wyatt Felts, Rebecca Nordan, Matthew and Kelsie Skaggs, Savannah and Dillon Lemons, Sierra Gogue, Abigail, Jordan, Tyler Webb and Ashlyn Wood.
Funeral service will be Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 10:00 am at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 W. Washington Ave, Jonesboro with Minister Jeff Heitman officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery, Brookland.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Brown, Winston Brown, Kip Lemons, Steve Boyd, Bay Phommachak and Steve Shaw.
Visitation will be Friday, May 19, 2023 at the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

I became Dorris’ daughter when I was 16 and married her son Garry. That was 50 years ago and she never stopped calling me that. I love her so much and will never forget her love. She will be terribly missed. 😢

Aunt Dorris was a wonderful person,
she was a very warm and loving lady, who will truly be missed by all.
She was a wonderful lady. She sent my husband Michael a card every week while he was sick she was so special. We were sisters in Christ and I really will miss her.
Mark, Byron and I are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you . We won't be able to attend, Byron has hurt himself and is unable to travel at this time.
