David Henry Jenkins, Sr., passed away Friday, May 12, 2023 at Woodbriar Nursing Home in Harrisburg. He was born November 20, 1939 in Barton, AR to John and Hattie (Ship) Jenkins. David attended the University of Arkansas and was of the Baptist faith. He served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Sebastian County, AR. He retired from John Deere after working for 47 years. David and his wife loved traveling all over the United States in their RV, going to Nashville and amusement parks. He was also an Arkansas Razorback fan.
David is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Brett Winkler and sister, Joyce Roberts.
Those left to cherish is wonderful memory are his wife of 62 years, Edith (Smith) Jenkins; sons, Mike Jenkins, David "Roosie" Jenkins Jr. and David Jenkins III and his wife, Brandy all of Jonesboro; daughter, Cindy Winkler and her husband, Bob of Bartlett, TN; grandchildren, Jason Winkler and his wife, Amber, Mark Winkler and Evan Jenkins; great grandchildren, Ruth, Evelyn and Vivian Winkler.
Funeral service will be Monday, May 15, 2023, 2:00 pm at Roller Farmers Union Funeral Home with Johnie Jenkins officiating.
Visitation will be prior to the funeral beginning at 1:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be David Jenkins III, Evan Jenkins, David "Roosie" Jenkins, Jr, Robert Winkler,Jason Winkler and Mark Winkler.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Center, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or the NEA Humane Society, 6111 Highland Dr. Jonesboro, AR, 72401.
