I just found out about Paul's passing and want to extend my sincere sympathies to his entire family.
Paul sheared my sheep since 2001. Of course, there was one year, 2004, when he had been injured while serving our country, that he was unable to do it. He was always kind to me and to my family, as well as to my, sometimes belligerent, sheep.
He will be missed.

I am so sad to hear about Paul. Please accept my deepest condolences on behalf of all the handspinners of wool and alpaca in the Northwest Arkansas area. So many people have benefitted from his careful and skillful shearing practices. Paul was always punctual, cordial, and accommodating, no matter the situation that arose. He always showed kindness to the the animals he worked with, and the owners, in turn, loved him and looked forward to seeing him each year. We will all miss him greatly.

My condolences to the entire Ahrens family. I worked at the Shiloh Museum and have many fond memories of Paul shearing sheep for our annual Sheep to Shawl programs. I am still in awe of his abilities to control a sheep while shearing it and still be able walk the students through exactly what he was doing. I enjoyed seeing him each year and our conversations. He will be missed.

Paul's generosity for working at Shiloh Museum's annual Sheep-to-Shawl for 35 years will not be forgotten. Year after year he taught hundreds of school children about sheep and wool and its relation to clothing. Children loved it when they got their own piece of wool. Nice guy, great guy. Rest in peace Paul.

I shore sheep with Paul over 20 years every winter in New Mexico. He was a Top Hand. A very hard worker that had the respect of all the ranchers. He will be greatly missed. My sincerest condolences to his family. Fly high Paul.
