of Little Rock, AR
April 1, 1957 - May 10, 2023
Pete Wendell Price passed away peacefully, at the age of 66, on May 10, 2023 in Little Rock, AR with his devoted wife, Nancy and beloved daughter, Laura, by his side.
Pete was born on April 1, 1957 in Long Beach, MS. He attended Long Beach High School where he lettered in many sports and was voted Most Handsome. He was a dedicated Boy Scout and loved ''always being prepared'' for any situation. His family lovingly called him Practical Pete.
Pete attended the University of Mississippi from 1975-1979 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. He served as a Teacher's Assistant in accounting for several years. Pete was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and was elected Treasurer. He also worked as a Tri Delta Houseboy and was so excited when his daughter pledged to the same chapter years later.
Pete had an amazing work ethic which led to a successful financial career. He started out with United Brands in Gulfport, MS. During this time period, he had a blind date with a girl with the same last name, Nancy Price. Three years later Pete moved to Baton Rouge, LA. to work for Total CATV. In August of 1983, Nancy and Pete married in Lake Charles, LA. Pete was later offered a position with Cox Communications in New Orleans and commuted for 7.5 years from Baton Rouge to New Orleans. In 1993, Alltel Communications offered Pete a financial position in Little Rock, AR and Nancy and Pete moved to Little Rock. Shortly thereafter, they welcomed their only child, Laura, in 1994. While at Alltel, Pete held several positions, including Director of Finance, Vice President of Financial Services and Controller. As an avid golfer, Pete was thrilled to move the family to Augusta, GA to work as the VP/GM of Alltel's Augusta market. In 2001, Pete returned to the corporate headquarters of Alltel in Little Rock and worked until his retirement in 2008.
During his retirement, Pete enjoyed playing golf, traveling and going to Ole Miss sporting events. He had a close group of golfing friends at Chenal Country Club. He loved traveling with friends and family to tropical and historical locations. He enjoyed sailing the British Virgin Islands and recently returned from a trip to Israel to tour the Holy Land. His tailgating tent in The Grove at Ole Miss was his ''Happy Place.'' Pete enjoyed catching up with his Kappa Sigma brothers and welcoming Laura's friends and sorority sisters to his tent. Everyone was welcome to ''our tent''.
Pete was the Treasurer and an active member of the Chenal Circle POA for 20 years. Pete was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the Wally Gee Men's Bible Study on Wednesday's nights at Asbury United Methodist Church. Pete's family is comforted knowing that he had a strong relationship with the Lord.
Out of all the people and things Pete loved, Nancy and Laura were his favorite. His world revolved around his girls (and their dogs).
Pete is survived by his wife, Nancy of Little Rock and his daughter, Laura Whitmore (Tyler) of Dallas, TX; his parents, Joe and Wanda Price of Long Beach, MS; 2 sisters, Jo Lynn Perronne and Marsha Kay Fennell both of Long Beach, MS and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Visitation with family will take place Wednesday, May 17 from 5-7 pm at Chenal Country Club, 10 Chenal Club Blvd. The memorial service is on Thursday, May 18th at St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Dr. at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be sent to either (1) CARTI Cancer Center, 8901 Carti Way, Little Rock, AR, 72205, www.carti.com or (2) The Ole Miss Patterson School of Accountancy Building Fund, in memory of Pete W. Price. Gifts can be given online at https://umfoundation.givingfuel.com/accountancy or mailed to The University of Mississippi Foundation, 406 University Avenue, Oxford, MS 38655

I knew Pete growing up on the Coast and reconnected from time times after I moved to Hot Springs. Always enjoyed our brief and rare visits reminiscent of old stomping grounds. We would bump into each other and talk about old days on the Coast. Although I went to Arkansas, I.d go by his tent at the grove we.d rib each other about Hogs and Rebs.. A really solid guy. I.ll miss our visits. This for you Pete, "Go Rebs"
I have great memories of Pete Price as a student and football starâ—ï¸

Nancy and Laura,
I was so sorry to hear of Pete’s passing. I have many fond memories of our high school days. My prayers and thoughts are with you both.
Nancy, I cannot express the sorry hearing of Pete’s passing. May God be with you.
Nancy and Laura, I know you know you were his EVERYTHING. Pete and I became friends in first grade and stayed friends forever. Even if we didn’t see each other very often, we texted and talked on the phone several times a year. I got to go to The Grove one year and he was so sweet to me and my son. He offered us the condo just last summer when we went to Oxford for a wedding. I texted him in March to check on y’all when the tornado went through Arkansas. I will miss knowing he is only a phone call away. Love to you both.
Nancy and Laura, I was stunned to see the announcement of Pete's death. Not long ago I visited with him for a short while after church, and we talked about the day I baptized Laura and what a happy day that was. My prayers are with you as you walk through these sad days.
Pete was my cousin and we had a lot of fun growing up. My dad was in the military and every time we visited we just picked up where we left off. When I came back from overseas and Pete took me under his wing and introduced me to his friends. As usual life got in the way but due to the passing of my mom and Pete helping above and beyond we reconnected. I will miss him and his laugh and smile.
Pete was so special! A true gentleman that was so generous. He would always offer to help with anything that was needed.
He adored Nancy and Laura.
Such a good sport, he never got mad at his fellow Razorback friends about games. He was a loyal "Rebel" but was so good-natured.
We will miss him and the world is a bit dimmer without him.
Prayers and thoughts for Nancy and Laura. We love you!!
Ms. Price, I am so sorry to read about your dad. I remember meeting your parents when you did your student teaching with my class. They were such lovely people. All of you are in my prayers.
We are so very sorry for your loss and pray for peace and strength for you during this sad time.
Nancy, I just read of your loss and wanted to quickly express my condolences. I sincerely hope that you will be surrounded by those who will give you the most comfort and that they will continue to be there for you after most forget.
Peace, John
