of Little Rock, AR
May 8, 1935 - May 9, 2023
Preston Odell Morton, age 88, of Little Rock, Arkansas, formerly of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. He was born to his late parents, E.V. Debs Morton and Lavelle Harrison Morton in Abilene, Texas on May 8, 1935. Preston was an avid deer hunter, trout fisherman and loved tinkering in his workshop on carburetors. He loved reloading ammunition and shooting his guns. His love for his Lord and Savior was unparalleled. As the book of James states, "the prayers of a righteous man availeth much" and Preston's prayers could command the attention of the angels in heaven. He faithfully served his church as an Ordained Baptist Deacon and led church congregational music for over 20 years. Preston loved to sing and spend time with his family, especially his three great-grandchildren whom he adored. In addition, he was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard and a Mason.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mrs. Juanita Ritter Morton; one son, David Morton of Little Rock; one brother, Charles Gene Morton and (Barbara) of Vernon, TX; one granddaughter, Jessica Tate and husband, Tyler of Nixa, MO and three great-grandchildren, Nathan, Leah and Seth. Graveside services will be 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Riverwood Memorial Gardens in Maumelle, Arkansas with the Reverend Johnny Patterson and Tyler Tate officiating.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Arkansas Alzheimer's Association, 201 Markham Center Drive, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205.
