Michael Wayne Barnes, 73, of Batesville passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023.
He was born May 27, 1949 in Batesville, Arkansas to Jordan Robert Barnes and Charlene Jackson Barnes.
Michael was a hardworking man and a legend in the construction industry. He worked for MA Jones for over 20 years and was currently employed at CR Crawford Construction where he was a superintendent. Michael loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching the Razorbacks on TV.
Survivors include his wife, whom he married February 14, 1980, Peggy Carmical Barnes; one son, Michael R. Barnes of Batesville; two daughters, Nikki Whitener (Artie) of Batesville, Suzann Martin of Pleasant Plains and five grandchildren, Layla Barnes, Price Whitener, Jolee Whitener, Delta Whitener and Cory Martin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Donovan Barnes.
Pallbearers are Michael Barnes, Artie Whitener, Danny McSpadden, Jeremy McSpadden, Josh Cousar, Jason Evans, Mike Hill and Andrew Mincks. Honorary pallbearers are Ricky Petree, Melvin Yates, Bill Daum, James Ellis, Donnie Wiley and Richard Clark.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home with Richard Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Campground Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1:00pm until 2:00pm prior to the service.
Memorials may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
