Lucille D Price

of Osceola, AR

May 17, 1925 - April 27, 2023

Lucille D. Price, May 17, 1925 - April 27, 2023

Lucille Price, 97, of Osceola, AR passed away on April 27, 2023 in Jonesboro, AR. Lucille was born May 17, 1925 in Scotts Hill, TN to Everett and Claudie Wheeler, who she affectionately referred to as "Mama and Papa". She and her family moved to Arkansas when she was a young girl.

Lucille is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jean and Tommie Smith of Bragg City, MO; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Cathy Price of West Point, AL; four grandchildren, Steven Smith of Bragg City, MO, April Knight (Robert) of Kilbourne, LA, Leanne Murray (Justin) of Robertsdale, AL and Sharon Manning (Jason) of Madison, AL; 9 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Carnell Wheeler, Johnny Wheeler, O.D. Wheeler and Fred Wheeler; three sisters, Opal Gooden, Oleta Neal and Dorothy Fay Hamm; many special nieces and nephews and her husband of 41 years, Lester J. Price. She and Lester were reunited on what would have been their 77th wedding anniversary.

Lucille lived most of her life in the area surrounding Osceola. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Visits from family, friends and neighbors allowed her to share stories of her life growing up in rural Tennessee, moving with her family to Arkansas, working in Massengale's Drug Store (where she met Lester), owning a general store in Bakerville, Missouri and the soybean farming adventure with her husband, until his retirement. Even though she lived to be 97, she could remember every vivid detail and took pleasure in reliving those days. She and her sisters had a special bond and remained best friends until their recent deaths. Their children were like her own and they helped take care of her in numerous ways. She loved being at home and was proud that she had been able to live independently until very recently.

Her family will miss her visits and phone calls to keep them updated on current news and ominous weather events, as she always worried about them and wanted to make sure they stayed safe. Praise God she no longer has any such burdens, sadness or pain!

Visitation will be held at Roller-Swift Funeral Home on Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm with the Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 pm. Interment: Mississippi County Memorial Gardens. Guestbook: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com
