James E. Johnson, 86, of Conway passed away April 25th 2023 in Fayetteville AR.
His family was by his side when he drifted off to be with the Lord.
He was born to Alice and William Johnson of Carthage AR on March 5th 1937.
James graduated from Carthage High School in 1955 and he was federalized by the National Guard in June of 1957.
He went on to serve in the U. S. Army for 30 years. He retired as a Command Sergeant Major in 1987. After retirement he worked another 10 years as a nurse for the Veterans Hospital.
He served in both the Korean War and Vietnam, where he received the Bronze Star for bravery.
He was an avid gardener and enjoyed teaching his grandchildren and neighborhood kids how to fish.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Johnson (Talbert) of Farmington, AR.
His son, J. Brian Johnson and wife, Susan of Farmington, AR.
His son, Travis Johnson and wife, Denise of Suffolk, VA.
His son, Tracy Johnson and wife, Margarita of Chesapeake, VA.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 6:00-8:00PM at Roller Alcoa Funeral Home in Benton, Arkansas. Funeral Service to be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 10:00AM at Roller Alcoa Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hampton Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in his name (James E. Dear Rita Jane and Family,
