Shelby Carroll Blevins, 88, of Jonesboro, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023 at his home. He was born May 29, 1934 in Violet Hill, AR to Carl and Lois (Cooper) Blevins. Shelby worked for White Rodgers in Batesville until retirement, then spent time farming. He was a member of the Church of God and loved bluegrass music, playing the mandolin and most of all, spending time with his family and grandkids.
Shelby was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Butch Blevins; a granddaughter, Cammie Blevins; a brother, Charlie Blevins and three sisters, Imogene Davis, Barbara Smith and Linnie Whited.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Alta Lois Murphy-Blevins; a son, Bobby Blevins; two daughters, Kim (Mark) Welter and Donna (Steve) Williams; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Susan and special life long friend, Tracy Jo Hart.
Graveside services will be 4 pm Thursday, at Unity Cemetery with Bro. Gary Gipson officiating.
Visitation will precede the service from 2:30 to 3:30 pm at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro.
Aaron Blevins, Charles Webster, Rodney Hufstedler, Rick Stevens, Josh Gibson and Cliff Feezor will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include Matthew Bayles, Todd Hart, Jody Cashion, Brad Penn, Scott Rathman, Mark Hurd and Marshal Bakker.
In lieu of flowers, please consider St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, ACH or Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.
Shelby never will I ever forget working with you. I can't believe we lost touch. But God had your back always, I didn't know where you had gotten to so it really makes me sad knowing now you were still close. May God be with the rest of your family through this journey.
