Jason Housley

January 6, 1926 - April 12, 2023

William Jason Housley of Chimes, Arkansas was born to Oscar Benton Housley and Della Hefner Housley on January 6, 1926 in Murillo (Chimes), Arkansas and passed from this life to his eternal home on April 12, 2023. He lived his entire life in a house about a hundred yards from the house where he was born. He married Nora Jean (Mathis) Housley on March 1, 1947. They celebrated Seventy-Six years of marriage on March 1, 2023. They were blessed with four children, Nancy, Ronnie, Jacky and Randall.

Jason carried the mail by horseback from Chimes to Copeland from 1942 to 1953. He worked in the timber industry and took on other outside jobs to provide for his family. His favorite jobs were working on the farm and taking care of his cattle. Jason and Nora Jean provided food for their family by raising big gardens, raising Seventy-Four gardens in the Seventy-Six years they were married. Jason loved gospel music, he and Nora Jean traveled all over the state attending Gospel Music conventions. He was saved at an early age and was faithful to his church until the last few years when his health prevented him from attending.

Jason was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Benton and Della Housley; one son, Jacky Housley; Great Granddaughter, Hannah Grace Housley and son in law, Charles Morris. Six brothers, O.B. Housley, Henry Housley, Elgin Housley, Gene Housley and Dean Housley.

He is survived by his wife, Nora Jean Housley; one daughter, Nancy Morris and friend, Jesse; two sons, Ronnie (Thereisa) Housley, Randall (Ann) Housley; one daughter-in-law, Alice Housley; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; five great-great- grandchildren and two on the way. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces and other family and friends.

Services for Jason will be Friday, April 14, 2023 at the Liberty Cemetery in Chimes, Arkansas. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM and the service will be at 2:00 PM, with Scott Housley and Larry Anthony Housley officiating. Pallbearers will be William Morris, Lane Housley, Brandon Housley, Dustin Housley, Ryan Linker and Jack Housley. Honorary pallbearers will be Great Grandson's and Steve Myers, Verlan Casto and Danny Casto.

At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Liberty Cemetery Building, in care of Nora Jean Housley, 1165 Housley Loop, Leslie, AR 72645.

Brandon and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Jason's passing. No words can take away the pain. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. May God give you comfort and peace in the days to come. Isaiah 40:29 says God gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. May he sustain you with the Christian example he set.

I know the Housley’s, I didn’t know this gentleman. It doesn’t matter. I took one look at his face and knew he must have had a world of knowledge and many stories to tell. As a preacher once said, “lean in and listen”. I’m certain Mr. Jason had a lot to say. Bless you all.

Loved and respected Jason’s family so much! He was my mom’s first cousin and we only lived about two miles away from them! I admired Jason most for his faithfulness to God, and his willingness to lead singing any time he was needed, including at church, and the many decorations we attended in Searcy and Van Buren Counties! God Bless all the family!
