Katy Ruth Bridger, 94, of Searcy, AR passed away April 9, 2023 in Searcy. She was the daughter of Edmond and Avalee Tole and was born May 3, 1928 in McJester, AR, across the Red River from Pangburn, AR. She passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends.
Katy grew up in the Pangburn area attending school in Pleasant Plains and Pangburn. She met her husband, Harley Bridger in Pangburn and they were married in Wichita, Kansas on October 19, 1946. They returned to Arkansas where Harley pursued his teaching degree. In 1956, they loaded up their two sons and moved to Wellton, Arizona. Katy worked for the Wellton and Roll Elementary Schools during their time in Arizona. She was active with the boys in Cub Scouts and their many sports and educational activities throughout their school years.
Upon retirement they moved back to Searcy to be near family, friends and care for elderly parents. They enjoyed time with many friends in the Airstream and Good Sam Clubs and travelled to all 50 states, all but one Canadian province, as well as Europe. Katy became very active in the Searcy First United Methodist Church, enjoyed her Sunday School class and volunteering at the church thrift shop.
She is survived by her husband of 76 years, Harley Bridger and sons, Ron (Bonnie) of Prescott, AZ, John (Neita) of Scottsdale, AZ and grandchildren, John Bridger, Jason Bridger, Craig Bridger and Lori Renda. She has five great grandchildren, Lindsey, Zachary, Jack, Luke and Alex and she has two sisters, Virginia Thompson of Benton, AR and Anita Key of Lincoln, NB. Katy was preceded in her passing by her parents and three brothers, Henderson, Swifton and Eddy. Katy was loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a supportive neighborhood.
Services will be held on Sunday, April 16th at Roller Daniels Funeral Home, 411 E. Race Ave, Searcy, AR with visitation at 1:00pm and services at 2:00pm. Interment will be at the Henderson Cemetery in Pangburn.
