James Hubert Garrett of Jonesboro, AR departed this life on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the age of 93. James was born on November 27, 1929 in Trumann, AR to the late Jesse and Eva (Best) Garrett.
James retired from Hytrol and was a member of Friendship Assembly of God Church. His hobbies were playing and singing bluegrass and gospel music, hunting and fishing. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Helen Garrett; five brothers, Harvey, Wilburn, Virgil, Leon and Earl Garrett and four sisters, Wanda Haner, Dorothy Freeman, Yutha Hanes and Myrtle Garrett.
He is survived by a son, Johnny (Cindy) Garrett; a daughter, Linda (Jim) Haynes; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Garrett and Lillian Faye Garrett and a brother-in-law, Jerry Haner.
Family will receive friends from 1-3pm on Saturday, March 25, 2022 at Friendship Assembly of God Church in Jonesboro, AR located at 1771 AR-163. A Celebration of Life will follow beginning at 3pm with Pastor Nate Morse officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are John Garrett, John Garrett II, Joshua Garrett, Michael Freeman, Steve Garrett and Jason Garrett. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Pretty and Mike Lane.
Roller-Farmers Union is in charge of arrangements.
A wonderful talented man of God who was greatly loved and will be missed in this world. Our prayers are with the family.

I had the honor of sitting with Mr. Garrett at the hospital before he passed! I'm glad I got to stay with him and help him! I'm going to miss him so much, but I know he's in heaven with Mrs Garrett and they are having a joyful reunion!! I loved him so much!!
It was an honor to have known Mr James and each time we had the privilege to be around him was such a pleasure . We do so pray for your family and God’s comfort in this time of grief . There is most likely loads of good memories surrounding Mr. James , y’all rely on them. Hope to see you soon at Mt View and get to picking cause it’s great therapy . I performed with James and Helen and Johnny at lots of churches, several Bluegrass Festivals and other venues. Am very sad to hear that James has passed. My love and prayers go out to Johnny and rest of the family.
My prayers continue for the Garrett family. Enjoyed the years of playing music with Mr & Mrs Garrett. I know they are making beautiful music now.ðŸ™â¤

I'm so sorry to hear of Mr Garrett's passing. He was a wonderful and pleasant person. I've enjoyed our conversations over the many years and his humor. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to the entire family.
