Eulas Harvey Dorton, 93, of Bono passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023 at his home. He was born July 16, 1929 to Hillis and Bertha (Caldwell) Dorton in Jonesboro, AR. Eulas served his country in the United States Army, as well as the United States Marine Corps. He served active duty in the Korean War for 17 months on behalf of the Army, before serving 3 years with the Marine Corps. Afterwards, he came home to become a master machinist at General Electric for 34 and a half years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan who loved teaching and coaching baseball with his son Rickie and his brother-in-law, Joe Miller. Eulas was a baptized Christian and though he never officially joined the Union Grove Methodist Church, he lived his life as a devoted servant of God, loving to help anyone in need.
Preceding him in death are his parents; a son, Rickie Dorton; a brother, Cecil Dorton and 3 sisters, Evelyn Burrow, Verdis Broadaway and Vida Mae Dorton.
Survivors his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Vergie "Tookie" Dorton; son, Lynn (Angie) Dorton; daughter-in-law, Kaye Dorton; grandchildren, Gabriel Dorton, Nicole (Jerrel) Brown, Andrea (Jason) Goad and Daniel Dorton; great-grandchildren, Hannah (Spencer) Vaughn, Gracie Dorton, Ella Dorton, Nicolas Brown, Alexander Brown, Katelyn Brown, Tyler Dorton, Mia Dorton, Jada Goad and Skylar Goad; a sister, Mildred Hamilton and 3 special nieces, Beverly McQuay, Karen Forkum and Stephanie Thomas,
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 15 at 3:30pm at Union Grove Methodist Cemetery, with Chris Kjorlaug officiating.
Visitation precedes the service beginning at 1:30pm at Roller Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ken Miller, Tracy Miller, Terry Davis, Gary Davis, Troy Snell, Randy McDole, Neil McDole, Justin Waln, Dan Yarbrough and Tony Burdyshaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Broadaway, Fred Heider, Mike Payton and Stan Burdyshaw.
Roller-Farmers Union is in charge of arrangements.
