of Maumelle, AR
April 13, 1946 - February 28, 2023
James Michael Louis Stelzl, 76, of Maumelle, Arkansas passed away on February 28, 2023, from natural causes.
Jim was a beloved, beautiful, radiant soul. He had an infectious smile and never met a stranger. He touched the lives of many through his selfless acts of kindness, his strong faith in God and his positive outlook on life. He was a pastor of many years and served as a light of God to all those around him. He shared his faith openly and freely with everyone. Jim was a devoted husband to his wife for over 40 years and a loving father to his children. He was also an amazing Papa to his grandchildren, whom he cherished spending time with.
Jim is survived by his wife, Maudie and three children, William, Matt and Stella. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Santana, Samantha, Victoria, Bill, Jerry and Ava; seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Mary Stelzl and brother, Rick Stelzl.
So sorry for your loss Maudie. Dad use to talk and so such good things about Jim. May he RIH.
I really hate to learn this, Jim was a good man, and will be widely missed. I knew him mostly as a manager who showed near-infinite patience for young and obnoxious system operators. A gentle soul with a good sense of humor and a mischievous sparkle in his eyes that sometimes bordered on the constitutional.
I found it unsurprising when I ran into him some years later and learned he had entered the ministry. He always carried himself with a dignity and peace that signifies a soul touched by the Spirit of God. I figure he did a lot of good over the years in his quiet, dignified way.
For this reason, I will choose to be thankful for the time i got to work with Jim, and for the promise that one day we will catch up and laugh about the craziness of this life.
Please accept my sincere and heartfelt condolences and prayers as we adjust to this new situation.
Jim was one of the best boss and mentor I've ever worked for. Nothing was ever a problem, but rather an opportunity. He was always caring and would check on me regularly even after his retirement. I will forever miss him, including our lunch meetings and especially his jokes (Stelzism advices). Praying for strength, comfort and peace for Maudie and the rest of the family.
Jim was a special friend to us. He will be missed by many people.
So very sorry to hear of Jim’s passing .He was a good man who always showed up to lend a helping hand.He and Maundy truly fought the good fight. We pray for pease and rest for the family. He is in the arms of Jesus now and a well earned rest.
I finer man I’ve never met. While in transplant rehabilitation, his humor, wisdom, and encouragement kept me going on the treadmill when I so much wanted to call it quits. Jim gave me a greater interest and appreciation of the Lord. I’m so proud to be his friend. God bless Maudie and the family. I love you Jim!
Jim was one of the best friends I’ve ever had! He brought Jesus into every situation he entered and loved freely! He will be sorely missed but he will be held by God now… not that he ever wasn’t!

Our most sincere condolences go out to Maudie and the Stelzl family. Virginia and I perhaps did not know Jim as well as we could have, but he was always a cordial and dedicated minister and individual. We need more like him and he is already missed by us at Faith Lutheran in Little Rock.
Remembering all the great memories of Jim makes me glad to have known him. He will be dearly missed by many. Rest in peace. My heartfelt condolences to Maudie, Matthew, and the family.
I had the opportunity to get to know Jim and Maudie thru our transplant program. I had transplanted earlier. We never got to meet them in person but both jim and Maudie were a great blessing thru phone conversations on several occasions. We will forever remember Jims love and kindness.
I met Jim more than 40 years ago, and we were like loving brothers. His companionship and mentoring brought me closer to God. I will miss him terribly, but I know he will be there when I get to Heaven. I hope his family can be comforted with memories of earlier, happier, healthier days that he enjoyed with them. For years he and I met for lunch each Monday, and I think of him every Monday. He was wise, compassionate and inspirational. He was a good, good man, a beacon of light in a dark world.
Sending prayers and our love from the Moore family! Pastor Jim supported our family during many times over the past several years! He brought us back home to God and to our Shepherd of the Hills family! Peace and blessings to you all!
Jim was a mentor to me for many years and I was proud when he decided to end one chapter and start another. He was an inspiration to me and I can tell by the other comments that he continued to be an inspiration. My prayers to his family. I can already hearing the angels laughing.
Jim was the most kind gentle person I knew. He brought my husband and I closer together by sharing Via DeCristo with us. We will miss him dearly. Prayers go out to Maudi and the kids.
