Marie Scroggins Mayes, age 94, of Harrison, Arkansas passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Harrison. She was born on November 19, 1928 in Lowry, Arkansas, the daughter of Ceaf and Pansy (Pemberton) Arnold. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Herman Scroggins and Gerald Mayes; her grandson, Jeremy Scroggins; four brothers and four sisters.
Marie was a member of Northvale Baptist Church. She had a ministry where she would go to the nursing homes to visit. She also enjoyed helping at Ozark Share & Care and Senior Day Care.
Marie is survived by her son, Greg Scroggins and his wife, Alice of Casa Grande, Arizona; her daughter, Lana Wynn Scroggins of Port St. Joe, Florida; two granddaughters, Ashley Scroggins and Kimberly Scroggins Gamble; many nieces; nephews and other family members.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home with Bro Tim Cooper officiating.
Burial will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Memorial may be made to the Hospice of the Hills Hospice House or House of Hope, 600 E. Stephenson, Harrison, AR 72601.

I learned so much from Marie as a young pastor’s wife. Her homemaking skills and involvement in the ministries of the church were an example of a Proverbs 31 woman.
