Elton Dean Hall, 87, died Sunday morning at the Mountain View hospital after a brief illness. Dean was born March 27, 1935 in Pleasant Grove, Arkansas to Bernice & Harvey Oliver Hall. At the age of 14, his father died and he became man of the house, helping to raise his four younger siblings, Joy, Terry, Gary and Gail. After graduating high school at Pleasant Grove, he married his high school sweetheart, Doris Jean Ward on April 26, 1953 in Mountain View, AR. They were married nearly 70 years. Dean served in the Air Force and then worked for over 20 years for Santa Fe Railroad in Lawrence, KS until 1980. After retiring, Dean and Doris moved back home to Arkansas and raised chickens. He served three terms as Stone County Judge and multiple terms as Justice of the Peace. He also worked for many years at the Pleasant Grove Water Department and volunteered for numerous community service projects.
He is survived by his wife Doris; two sons, Rick Hall (& Nicole) of Marysville, KS and Galen Hall (& Crystal) of Mountain View, AR and five grandchildren, Chris, Ben, Aaron (& Jessica), Jess (& Riley) and Matt (& Katie).
Memorial services will be held at the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 1 pm.
Roller Crouch Funeral Home in Mountain View, Arkansas is in charge of the arrangements.

I have known Dean my whole life, he was always smiling and had a kind word. We were able to attend church with them at Reeds Chapel for a few years. Prayers for family of comfort and peace. He loved the Lord! What a legacy, he left.
Dad's memorial service has been moved to Saturday the 28th of January, 1:00 PM at the Missionary Baptist church in Pleasant Grove. All are welcome to attend.
Met Dean (and Doris) many years ago while visiting Nicki and Rick in Arkansas and was happy to find what a wonderful Family my daughter married into. He will be remembered dearly

I worked with Dean when he was county judge. He was a hard headed man but a fair man. He will be missed by many people. Prayers for family.

I am so sorry about Dean. I worked for him when he was County Judge and he taught me a lot about County Government. He was also my neighbor for several years and was a good, kind hearted man!
