June 22, 1932 - December 18, 2022

John Shelby Terrell, 90, of Memphis, TN passed away on December 18, 2022 in Southaven, MS. Pete was born to Plummer and Courtney (Ratliff) Terrell on June 22, 1932 weighing in at 1.5 pounds in Tylertown, MS. He married Rebecca ''Becky'' (Rodrian) Terrell on December 23, 1961 in Nesbit, MS. He worked for Bruce Lumber company and later opened Pete's Foreign Car Repair, where he specialized in repairing older model Volkswagens for over 45 years. He was known as ''Pete or Volkswagen Pete'' to everyone who knew him. He was a longtime member of Longcrest Baptist Church in Memphis, TN.

Pete had a love for his family that was beyond measure. He would do anything for his girls. He was a hard-working man and a great provider for his family. The Terrell clan enjoyed many vacations over the years and made too many memories to count. Pete/Daddy will be greatly missed by his family and his absence will leave a huge void. Pete's second love was ice cream. The end.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Plummer and Courtney Terrell; Brothers, Lemuel and Welton Terrell and Sisters, Thelma, Neva and Hilda. Also preceded in death his daughter, Tina Terrell O'Brien; his grandson, Jesse Vaughan and several angel babies.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Becky Terrell, who remained by his side until his last breath. Pete leaves two daughters, Janet Vaughan (husband, Mark) of Hernando, MS and Margie Vanlandingham (husband, Allen) of Southaven, MS. Surviving grandchildren are Chuckie Oates, Kristina Davis (husband, Kiel), Mitch O'Brien (Jessica), Sammy Vaughan, Johnny Vaughan (Kayla) and Dale O'Brien (Kayla). Great grandchildren, Jack, Coltyn, Ella, Parker, Eli and 2 babies expected in 2023. Becky and girls I'm so sorry for the passing of Mr. Pete. He was the absolute most caring man I've ever known. His love for all of you was always so evident when he talked about you or saw you. I know Mom was there when he passed over to welcome him with a big howdy and hug. Love to you all

I'll miss Uncle Pete and regret not seeing him more often. He was a person I admired greatly. I know he will be greeted by his brothers and sisters in Heaven.
