Lois Jean Carter, 88, of Brookland, AR passed away Saturday, December 03, 2022 in Jonesboro, AR. Jean was born October 22, 1934 to William "Rufus" and Maudie Ann (Ladd) Burdyshaw. Jean retired from Frolic Footwear after 45 years of service. After retirement, she began working with Service Master of Paragould, where she dedicated 10 years of service.
She was a member of Prospect Baptist Church and devoted much love and service to the Lord. She loved to garden, was a collector of many things, including Barbies, Milk Glass, Denim Days and was happiest spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; infant granddaughters, Reianna and Destiney Forkum; brothers, Bill Burdyshaw, Robert Burdyshaw, Wayne Burdyshaw; sisters, Margaret Burdyshaw, Linda Burdyshaw, Patsy Davis and brothers-in-law, Joe Miller, Wayne Snell and Jimmy Yarbrough.
Those left behind to cherish the memories of Jean include her daughters, Karen (Ricky) Forkum and Beverly McQuay; grandchildren, Cody Thornton, Levi (Kirby) Thornton, Steven Glenn, Kailey McQuay; great-grandchildren, Jhett and Charlee Jo Thornton; brother, Stanley Burdyshaw; sisters, Vergie "Tookie" (Eulas) Dorton, Fredia Miller, Goldie (Gary) Haynes, Carol Snell, Joyce (Robert) Bednar, Shirley (Ronnie) Waln; sisters-in-law, Doris Burdyshaw, Sherry Burdyshaw, Carol Burdyshaw and many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro with Rick Hathcoat officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Jonesboro.
Visitation will precede the service beginning at 1 pm.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Rodney Glenn, Terry Davis, Gary Davis, Terry Forkum, Justin Waln and Payton Futrell. Honorary pallbearers are Levi Thornton, Cody Thornton, Steven Glenn and Steve Beck.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donation be made in Jean's name to The Alzheimer's Association, Arkansas Children's Hospital, St. Jude's Hospital or Flo and Phil's Hospice House of Jonesboro.
The family wishes to extend extreme gratitude for the loving care, respect and compassion that was received from Craighead Nursing Center of Jonesboro.
Oh no! I try to nevwr miss a funeral of someone that mattered to me. Failed this time. Prayers are with Karen and Beverly and their families! God bless yall!!
