of Little Rock, AR
September 5, 1961 - November 17, 2022
Phyllis Kaye Long (Phil) was born September 5, 1961 in Osceola, AR to the union of Clarence Jr and Margaret Parker.
She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age under the leadership of O.T. Williams at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Osceola.
Phyllis graduated from Osceola High School in 1979. After graduation, she attended MCCC/Arkansas Northeastern College in Blytheville, AR where she was a member of the basketball team. She often played basketball for fun with her nephews.
She married Larry Long. To this union two daughters were born: Baby Long, deceased at birth, and Lanata Long Ridgle.
Phyllis worked at Children's Hospital in Little Rock, AR as a Pharmacy Tech. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was also instrumental in leading many to Theressa Hoover, United Methodist Church for drug cessation. This was her mission and ministry to help others overcome as she did.
She loved people and never met a stranger, but most of all she loved the Lord and was committed to do his will.
She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter: Lanata Long Ridgle; three sisters: Margaret Gaskin of St. Louis, MO, Maxine (Estec) Doolittle of Pine Bluff, AR, Gloria Clark of Osceola, AR; one brother: James (Tracy) Parker of Black Lick, Ohio and a host of relatives and friends who will cherish memories of her within their hearts.
A Letter from Heaven
When tomorrow starts without me and I'm not there to see;
If the sun should rise and find your eyes filled with tears for me,
I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today; while thinking of the many things we didn't get a chance to say.
I know how much you loved me as much as I loved you. And each time you think of me, I know you'll miss me too.
When tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart. For every time you think of me,
I'll be right there in your heart.
Lanata..Our prayers are with you doing this difficult time. I will miss my friend.. much love â¤ï¸

203 Mill Street has so many memories for me as a child. This was my first home, the home that I shared with you Aunt Phyllis. As a child I never looked at you as an aunt but more as a big sister and you treated me like the pesky little brother that would mess with your stuff when you were away. I looked up to you as I would watch you handle the guys at the Rosenwald basketball court. To this day I believe had there been a WNBA you would have played pro ball.
Remembering the day you got married to uncle Larry I cried because I thought he was taking my "big sister" from me but in all actuality I was gaining a good man as a uncle.
I am still in disbelief that you are gone because the last text message I got from you was 3 days before God called you home congratulating my new bride and I on our recent marriage and welcoming her new niece to the family.
Big Sis rest easy. Pet Shane for me.
Love Rod
