of Flippin, AR
June 11, 1925 - October 21, 2022
Reva M. Stevenson, 97, passed away October 21, 2022 in Flippin, Arkansas.
She was born June 11, 1925 in Holland, Arkansas (Faulkner County) to the late William C. and Sara Frances (Mabry) Cargile. She graduated from Holland High School, where she was an outstanding guard on the basketball team, being named to the All-County Team. While in high school, she was baptized and remained a lifelong Methodist. She was a member of Bull Shoals United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Everette Long of Flippin, 5 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and 4 step great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Weldon Stevenson; her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sharion Stevenson; her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Albert Drewry and her sister and brother-in-law, Rubye and Coy Middleton.
While her children were young, she was active as a room mother and in school fundraising events, all while maintaining a massive garden (canning much of her produce), helping raise various farm animals, sewing for family and community members and chaperoning many school trips. She was also active in Methodist Women and worked tirelessly at dinners and on mission projects. She passed her work ethic to her children. She was kitchen supervisor for Flippin Schools, a waitress at Crow-Barnes Resort, assembly line worker at Mar-Bax Shirt Factory and Baxter Lab, cashier at Montgomery Ward and retired as secretary for Manpower Development. In what spare time she had, she loved to garden, tend her flowers and embroider.
Reva especially loved to cook and entertain. She was hostess for many of Weldon's professional functions. She had a big heart and would help anyone in need. She never failed to share food with whoever was hungry. She was known to deliver full meals to her children and every special event had the necessary cakes. Her children (and their friends) can attest to the wonderful tailgates they enjoyed before Razorback games.

Cathy and Everette, it 's no secret that I was crazy about Mrs Reva! As her pharmacist for many years I had the privilege of getting to know her and Weldon very well. I am still so honored that she allowed me to serve her in spite of the distance from Flippin to Mtn Home. It was always a joy to see her or hear her when she called. And the stories of her and Weldon's days in the public school system were a highlight of some of our visits. I have often thought, now that I'm semi-retired, that I would love to go see Reva and just sit and visit about " the days" !
Thank you both for chauffeuring her back and forth to MH for so many years! Life will not be the same without her mischievous grin and sweet spirit but heaven's homecoming will be grand!
Sorry for Y0ur loss. I'll will be praying for Kathy and Evertte.
