On Thursday October 6, 2022,Tony Wayne Sutton passed away three days after his sixty-seventh birthday. Born in Peoria, Illinois, Tony attended college at the University of Illinois where he studied interior design. He went on to become a very successful interior designer in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he spent most of his life. Tony took over leadership of Est Est interior design in 1984. Under his direction the firm won numerous industry awards. He was recently honored with an American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Lifetime Achievement Award.
Tony was best known for his kind spirit and joie de vivre, for his love of travel, meeting up with his college fraternity brothers, tango dancing and hunting deer. Tony believed everyone should give back to their community. He was involved with many charities and spent a lifetime mentoring aspiring designers. People often picture him wearing a colorful shirt behind the wheel of his beloved Corvette with his beautiful wife, Esther Boivin, by his side.
He is survived by his wife, Esther, his father and step-mother, Jerry Sutton and Etta; his three children and their mother Tracey: Blake Sutton and his wife, Kourtney; Zoë Cotan and her husband, André; and Max Sutton; along with his step-daughter, Alessandra Marcus. Tony also leaves behind a beloved extended family that includes three grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, plus many, many friends who loved him dearly and will miss his kind smile.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Guy and Ruby Rhodes; his mother, Mary Gayleen Sutton; his son, Alex Rhodes Sutton; and one brother, James Lester Sutton.
Visitation for Tony will be held, Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 1-2PM at Foothills Baptist Church in Mountain View, Arkansas. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 2:00PM with Brother Tommy Medley officiating. Interment will follow the service at Marcella Cemetery in Marcella, Arkansas.
A Celebration of Life will be October 24 at 5 PM at Illuminate Community Church in Scottsdale, Arkansas.
Rest in heaven Uncle Tony. I looked up to you so much as i grew up. U were always there to help guide me when I would get off track. You were an amazing role model and I think you for every minute i shared with my dad too because with out you it wouldnt have been possible. Love you always buddy please watch over us all.
