Born in Peoria, Illinois, Tony attended college at the University of Illinois where he studied interior design. He went on to become a very successful interior designer in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he spent most of his life. Tony took over leadership of Est Est interior design in 1984. Under his direction the firm won numerous industry awards. He was recently honored with an American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Lifetime Achievement Award.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Guy and Ruby Rhodes; his mother, Mary Gayleen Sutton; his son, Alex Rhodes Sutton; and one brother, James Lester Sutton.
