Katherine T. Schuncke

of Russellville, AR

August 11, 1932 - September 30, 2022

Katherine ''Kate'' T. Schuncke passed away, Friday, September 30, 2022 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, Arkansas. She was born to Jasper and Kate Thomason on August 11, 1932 in Memphis, Tennessee. She attended St. Agnes Academy in Memphis and graduated from Osceola High School, where she was voted Homecoming Queen in 1949.
Kate attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where she became engaged to Ed McCorkle of Bartlett, Tennessee. They married and had a son: ''Corky''.
Kate moved back to Osceola in 1956, where she worked as a bank teller and as a secretary. In 1960, she took a job as secretary at American Greetings Corp., where she worked her way to Secretary of the plant's Engineering Department.
This job enabled her to show her organizational and leadership skills and soon she was promoted to ''Project Technician''. As the need for more complex product designs were realized, Kate's project management skills won her promotion to Industrial Engineer.
In addition to finding time to become a licensed real estate agent, she co-founded a women's bridge club in Osceola.
Kate was a lifelong member of St. Matthews Catholic Church. She served in a number of roles that dealt with religious education.
In 1983, Kate married Michael Schuncke, an agricultural pilot and former General Motors Engineer with three grown children.
Kate had a passion for antiques, and filled her home with them. She was a fine cook and delighted in preparing desserts. Lastly and most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and Christian.
Visitation will be held at Roller-Swift Funeral Home from 10:30 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, October 6, 2022. A graveside service will be held following the visitation at 11:00 am at Mississippi County Memorial Gardens. www.rollerfuneralhomes.com
