Frances Evelyn Walker, age 79, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Hospice House of the Ozarks in Mountain Home.
Frances was born June 16, 1942 to the late William Hollie and Vivian Lola (Holder) Weaver in Dallas, Texas. Fran loved children and was a Sunday school teacher while in Texas. She and her husband, Joe, were some of the founding members of Church on the Rock in Yellville. She was the children's church director for 10 years and helped establish the Kingdom Kids program while there. Fran was church secretary for many years. Along with Joe, she was a member of the Gideons and was active in the Ladies Auxiliary.
Although born in Texas, Fran loved the mountains and beauty of the Ozarks and proudly referred to herself as an Arkansan. She spent many hours at the Buffalo River exploring, camping and swimming with her grandchildren. She also loved flowers and birds, her favorite being the cardinal.
Fran is survived by her son, Bill Collins and his wife, Mary of Harrison, Arkansas; her daughter, Caren Perkins and her husband, Mitch of Mountain Home, Arkansas; along with nine beloved grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Walker and a sister, Sandy Gibson.
A graveside service will be 11:00 am Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Yellville.
