of Mountain View, AR
March 29, 1945 - April 20, 2022
Shirley Gail (Murphree) Watters of Mountain View, Arkansas, entered into rest on April 20, 2022, in her home at the age of 77. Shirley was born on March 29, 1945, in Cleburne County to the late William Cy Murphree and Elsie Tabatha (Dunn) Murphree.
Shirley, a devoted Christian woman whose smile and light radiated for the Lord, was the very definition of a Proverbs 31 woman. She was an outstanding member of Foothills Baptist Church and the community. She served the community for many years by working the voting polls, EHC, volunteer work with the Stone County Fair, and many other endeavors. She gave glory to the Lord and His house with her commitment to the church choir, Sunday School classes, VBS, and Awannas.
Shirley, with the love, support, and strength of her soul mate, Claud Watters pioneered the homestead and farm where they lived a wonderful 55 years together. She was blessed with a green thumb and the skill of gardening, sewing, quilting, canning, cooking, and being an all around homemaker. Shirley was indeed the best mother, granny, and role model anyone could have ever asked for. She enjoyed travelling the country with her close friends and seeing the wonders of God's creation. She was an inspiration to all and her love for others will be remembered and shared by those who knew her.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Sheila Janet (Watters) Rackley and husband, JL; three grandchildren, Jonathan Herrington, Kari (Harrington) Brewer and husband, Dustin, and Patience (Holt) Stone and husband, Hunter; four brothers, Feldus Murphree, Glen Murphree, Thomas Murphree, and Cecil Murphree; sister, Linda Faye (Murphree) Jarvis; as well as many extended family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents William Cy Murphree and Elsie Tabatha(Dunn) Murphree; brother, Aaron Murphree; sisters, Delois (Murphree) Davis and Clara Mae (Murphree) Elam; and the love of her life, Claud Wesley Watters. Shirley entered into God's glorious kingdom alongside her son, James Cecil Watters.
Visitation and services for Shirley is Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 1:00-2:00 PM at Foothills Baptist Church in Mountain View, Arkansas. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 2:00 PM with Brother Tommy Medley officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Community at Ben Community near Drasco, Arkansas.
