Mathas ''Matt'' D. House passed away on April 15, 2022 in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 84. He was born in Hollister, California. He grew up on a chicken ranch where hard work was a daily routine. In school, he excelled in reading and books became his passion.
He was a first chair coronet player and enjoyed singing in a quartet. He started a career as a customer service technician with IBM. He later served his country in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Ranger and completed his service as an AT2 Aviation Electronic Technician. His career took him to several service companies and ended with him being the Western Regional Service Manager for Seiko Instruments.
He and his wife retired to the town of Mountain View, Arkansas in the beautiful Ozark Mountains. As age progressed, his physical health required the loving care at Hickory Heights Health and Rehab in Little Rock, Arkansas. Matt was preceded in death by his parents, William and Florene; brothers, Paul, Ken, daughter; Colleen.
He was known by Papa to all and is survived by his loving wife Joy of fifty-five years; daughters, Sherry House, Karen Milburn (Gary), Kim Pierce (Fran); son, Bruce House (Mandy); grandchildren Chad, Bambi, Sydney, Wyatt, Haleia, Katie, Jen, Tyler; in-laws, Bill and Virginia Jacks, Loretta House; many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and SGI friends in faith.
A private service will be held at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home and Flatwood Cemetery in Mountain View, Arkansas with the Stone County Honor Guard attending.
Matt was of the Buddhist faith with the SGI-USA.
Due to Covid restrictions, SGI members will chant in their own homes for Matt's eternal enlightenment during their prayer for the deceased. Aloha Papa.

Kazue and I have a lot of very fond memories of being with Matt and Joy.
We remember visiting Matt and Joy at their home in Mountain View.
Matt really enjoyed making crafts by hand, and he gave us some.
I still remember having great conversations with Matt concerning the crazy drivers in Boston. I drove in Boston when visiting my daughter. Matt had driven there before I did, when he was on business.
Matt was a good friend to Kazue and Me. We appreciate having known him so much.
Kazue and I really enjoyed our visit, after our Buddhist meetings, with both Matt and Joy.
We will both truly miss him.
We will also chant for both Matt's eternal happiness, and Joy's good health and happiness.

Dear Joy and Family,

Before the pandemic, we visited Matt from time to time. Often, we tuned into Buddhist meetings remotely. Matt’s sincerity and enthusiasm always encouraged us. We will always remember him for his humility and courage.
