of Mountain Home, AR
June 22, 1930 - February 21, 2022
Dorothy Jean Paden, age 91, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away Monday February 21, 2022 in Mountain Home.
Dorothy was born June 22, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Hiram and Lillian (Sullivan) Shaddox.
Dorothy Paden was a Christian mother and loving wife of 68 years. She dedicated her life to the Lord Jesus Christ, her husband "Dub", and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. One of her sayings was "if you know better, you should do better".
Her pride and joy outside the family were her 2nd grade kids she taught at Yellville-Summit schools all her working years. She kept track of all of her students for years and continued to follow them in their activities and sports. She focused on children's need and this is why we encourage donations for children's homes which support a Christian based home to raise children with no parents or poor home situations.
Dorothy graduated high school from Western Grove, attended Arkansas Tech University and was homecoming queen in 1954, graduating with a Bachelors degree in elementary education. She moved to Yellville in 1961 with her husband Robert to open a drugstore on the square, which began a new phase of life.
The Yellville community accepted them and they both treasured this over the years. Dorothy had deep friendships with many that lasted over her lifetime. She was raised in Western Grove, but she considered Yellville her true and lasting home. Her friendships follow her all the days of her life.
Her life was a symbol of encouragement for others, since her days on earth were spent for other's benefit. Holding faith in God's word and trust in others, she encouraged all to be their very best. No matter your station in life, excel and help others.
Dorothy was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ; she was teacher of the year in 1989 at Yellville-Summit school; known for her infamous brownies and lemonade and corn bread sticks; she enjoyed a game of kickball up to the age of 85.
Dorothy Paden was humble and kind, but also a game changer for a lot of people. If you knew her, you are truly blessed. The family and the entire community will deeply miss her influence and smile.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Robert "Dub" Paden of Mountain Home; her sons: Mark (Melanie) Paden, Tim (Connie) Paden, Matt (Michele) Paden all of Mountain Home; Janet Paden of Yellville; two brothers: Jim (Mary Lou) Shaddox of Van Buren, Missouri; Curt (Reba) Shaddox of Harrison, Arkansas; her sister-in-law Jeanette Shaddox of Harrison, Arkansas; seven grandchildren: Kyle Parkinson, Kacy (Parkinson) Termini, Callie (Paden) Hendricks, Michael Paden, Lucas Paden, Ashlyn Paden, McKenzie Paden, and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Betty Cowell, and two brothers: Bob Shaddox, and Bill Shaddox.
Visitation will be noon - 1:00 pm, Saturday February 26, 2022 at Roller-Burns Funeral Home in Yellville.
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Saturday February 26, 2022 at Roller-Burns Funeral Home Chapel with Bryan Jefferson and Scotty Jefferson officiating.
Interment will follow at Layton Cemetery in Yellville.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lou Annis Kelley and Carolyn Avey.

You are all in my prayers. Dorothy was such a beautiful soul, her kindness is what I remember best. She was such a wonderful caring teacher, one of my very favorite.
We are so sorry to hear of your loss, she must have been so proud of all of you.
Dorothy was the reason I taught in Yellville. In the spring of 1978, I came for an interview. The first teacher I met was Mrs. Paden. That was all I needed. I knew immediately I wanted to be on her team. Even though she was second grade and I was Kindergarten, we spent a lot of time together. She was a joy to be around. She was such a professional and you always knew how much her students meant to her. I feel blessed that I knew her and was able to spend so much time with her. She was truly one of a kind and can never be replaced. Prayers to her family.
Tim, Connie, Michael, Lucas and Ashlyn,

I had the pleasure of teaching first grade alongside your Mom, in second grade, and reaped the benefits of her knowledge, but most importantly, her compassion, towards “her†students. She was always gentle and protective with her class and told me the importance of making each child feel her love. I always remembered her telling me that loving them was more important than anything else we did. What a wonderful example for teachers!
Praying for you all. ♥ï¸
So sorry for your loss she always helped me in school what a sweet lady she is
Janet and all the family,
Your mom was such a special
lady and teacher. When I started
teaching at Yellville, I immediately
noticed the love she had for her students and others. She also gave me a few tips to help with my first grade students.
What a sweet loving lady, but her legacy will live on through you, her
familyâ£ï¸

Prayers to Paden family she was a beautiful woman. Matt sounds like her. Matt God Bless you
The memory of Dorothy I like best is being at her class Christmas party at Yellville elementary. She opened each child’s gift to her, holding it up while she described why she loved it. She hugged each child as she sincerely thanked them for their gift. The kids beamed and felt special. That was always her intent in any interaction with a child. We were all blessed by her example. ♥ï¸
Our heart goes out to all the family and friends and all those who knew and loved Dorothy. There aren’t enough superlatives to describe Dorothy! She truly loved her students and never forgot them. Any time I saw her, she would ask about my daughter, one of her former 2nd graders. Her smile and kind spirit will be remembered and missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers for comfort are with all of you.
Dorthy will always be remembered for being a positive influence to her students and in this community. She loved to remind me of the things I said to her as a little girl in her 2nd grade class. I valued her character...she will be missed.

I am truly blessed to have had Dorothy as my dear friend. She set a Christian example for those of us who loved her to follow. I miss her and send condolences to her loving husband (Dub) and all of her family.
Mrs. Paden was a wonderfully kind woman. Matt and I were both in her class in 2nd grade and loved having her as a teacher. She was so encouraging to me as a student, and I admired how pretty she always looked. I especially remember her pretty scarves. Mrs. Paden always seemed interested in my life no matter how long it had been between our visits. We will be praying for your family during this time. I know you have many wonderful memories to treasure.
