Bonita Arlene Childers Hughes, 69, of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord, February 18, 2022. She was born on June 8, 1952, to Roy Childers and Georgia Hurley Childers; and raised in Cushman, by her beloved ''MawMaw'', Mary Francis Martin Hurley.
Bonita served the State of Arkansas as a County Supervisor for DHS of Pulaski South, Saline, and Scott Counties, presiding over Food Stamps, AFDC, and Medicaid services. Additionally, Bonita was a faithful prayer warrior and member of the New Hope Nazarene Church in Little Rock.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Georgia, one brother, Benny Perrin, and brother-in-law Melvin Reves.
Bonita is survived by her children, Lanita Hastings Wasson, Cleburn Laman Hastings, Jr. ''CJ'', and Rhonda Hughes Ryles; step-daughter, Bernita Hastings James; grandchildren, Joseph and Whitney Wasson, and Anna, Jayson, Jaxson, and soon to be born, Jaymeson Ryles; her precious sister, Barbara Childers Reves; brother, Billy Perrin; nephews, Lee, Lynn, and Bob Reves, and Joshua and Jeremy Perrin; and two nieces, Savannah Perrin and Emily Gardner.
Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 22, 2022, in the chapel of Roller Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30, with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Batesville at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday afternoon.
You have always welcomed me with open arms since the day we met. I will always love you. Lanita stood by you and was so strong. I will hold you on my heart.
I love you Mama, gonna miss you. I know you are dancing in Heaven just saying, " I can't believe I'm really here, it's so beautiful!"
