Daniel "Lonnie" GriderI am a Veteran.

of Pottsville, AR

October 15, 1944 - January 27, 2022

Daniel Alonzo ''Lonnie'' Grider, a beloved father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and resident of Russellville, Arkansas passed into the arms of his Savior, on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the age of 77 years old. He was born on October 15, 1944 in Marvell, Arkansas to Alonzo ''Pete'' and Ruth (Farmer) Grider. He served honorably from 1965 to 1971 with the AR National Guard attached to 2/153 Infantry.

Blessed with a great sense of humor, he could light up a room with his presence. Dan loved to reminisce about old stories. The ability to remember specific details made those stories great. He enjoyed sharing these stories because these memories he treasured most were those made with people he loved. His love for God and family were the two most important things to him. He was a loving father, faithful friend, and devoted husband. He was always there if you needed him. He was a constant, unwavering father to his four children. They all knew they could count on him for moral support and guidance. The way he lived his life was by far his best testimony.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Nina (Grider) King. Survived by his wife, Agnes (Hendon) Grider; sister, Phyllis (Grider) Copeland; daughters, Amy (Grider) Morgan and Marsha (Grider) Porter; sons, Dwayne Grider and Adam Grider; stepdaughters, Rachel Spartz, Angel Parfait, Alison Frazier, Hope Williams, Jill Parfait, Faith Menton, Spring McCarthy; stepson Royce Parfait; 8 grandchildren, 28 step grandchildren; 1 great grandchild, 15 great step grandchildren.

Services will be held on Monday January 31, 2022 at Roller-Citizens in West Helena, AR at 11:00 am. Officiated by Dan's nephew, Steven Copeland.
Pallbearers will be Joey Crossland, Bayley Grider, Logan Grider, Stuart Porter, Benjamin Gray, and Leroy Ruiz.

My heart hurts hearing of Dan's passing. He was one of the most honorable men I have ever known. He was a good friend to his friends and I always enjoy visiting with him and his family.
He is greatly missed. It was an honor to know him.

Dan was a quiet gentle giant. He loved his family, friends, gardens and Arkansas Razorbacks.
Dan would always help someone in need, but hardly ever asked for help for himself.
Dan, we will miss your terribly, you were a great friend.
