of Quitman, AR
June 25, 1947 - January 25, 2022
Freddie Paul Oaks, 74 years of age, from Quitman, formerly of Bigelow, went home to our Lord Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Fred was born June 25, 1947 in Bigelow, Arkansas, a son of the late Paul Clayton Oaks and Esther Lea (Grayson) Oaks.
Freddie Paul was a man among men. He wasn't scared of much on this earth. His brothers have shared that out of all seven children, Fred was the one they were most worried about going to prison or dying young. Little did they know that he would become a minister of the gospel.
Fred was a Baptist Minister for 38 years. Fred had a huge heart for the mission field and traveled to Africa, Haiti, Ecuador, and Honduras and several places inside the United States including New York, Montana, Massachusetts, and more.
Fred was a Plaster by trade and owned Fred Oaks and Sons Plastering for almost 25 years. He taught his three sons the art of the trade and instilled in them good work ethics.
Fred's Bible has a list of names and dates of weddings, funerals, baptisms, and the people he led to the Lord. There were many pages.
Fred also served (with his friend Lonnie Burrow) on the Board of Dispensing Opticians for the State of Arkansas from 2011 to the day he passed. He also served on the board of ''Line Upon Line Ministries'' and ''Abundant Life Ministries In Honduras'' for many years.
Freddie Paul Oaks was preceded in death by his father, Paul Clayton Oaks and his mother, Esther Lea Oaks; his sisters, Norma Ruth Oaks, Annie Margaret Oaks, Marilyn Bingham; brother, Leo Clayton Oaks.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Oaks of Quitman; brothers, Tom Oaks of Bigelow; Mike Oaks and wife Mary of Little Rock; Larry Oaks and wife Karen of Wooster; sons, Paul Oaks and wife Lori of Quitman, Mark Oaks and wife Melissa of Bigelow, Matthew Oaks and wife Stephanie of Perryville, fourteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 1pm, Monday, January 31, 2022 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier, with funeral service following at 2pm at the funeral home. Bro. Jim Arrant, Bro. Bennie Foster, Paul Oaks, Mark Oaks, and Matthew Oaks will be officiating. Interment will be at Quitman Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Oaks, Jr., Cody Bridgman, Wesley Wise, Zach Oaks, Wyatt Oaks, and Bryan Wenger. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lonnie Burrow, Mike Rickel, Terry Williams, Eugene Brown, and Jordan Farmer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideons International.
