of Little Rock, AR
July 12, 1949 - December 9, 2021
Herbert (Herb) Taylor DeLone, of Little Rock, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021 with family and close friends at his side. He was 72.
Born in El Dorado on July 12, 1949, Herb graduated from El Dorado High School in 1967 and continued his education at Henderson State College, where he played first base and right field for the Reddies baseball team. In his senior year he led the team in hits with 44 for the season. After earning a B.A. degree, Herb joined his family's business, Maxwell Drilling, founded in El Dorado in 1972; he worked there until 1988.
He then transitioned from the oil and gas industry to financial services, starting in the Trust department at Simmons Bank and eventually moving to the bank's Investments department. In his new role Herb found a passion for private investment and wealth management and went on to work as an investment adviser with companies including UBS Financial Services and ProEquities Inc. (now Concourse Financial Group).
Herb was an avid hunter and golfer and a loyal Oaklawn patron. He was a camera operator in the TV Ministry at Immanuel Baptist Church of Little Rock for many years and actively involved in his Sunday school class.
Predeceased by his parents, Maurice Taylor DeLone and Maxwell Stow DeLone, Herb is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kathy Vining DeLone; daughters, Melody Sue DeLone and Natalie Taylor DeLone of Little Rock; brother, Maxwell Stow DeLone Jr. (Susan) of El Dorado; nieces, Heather Allmendinger (Scott) and Christi Whitmire (Chris) of Little Rock; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews and other extended family members.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 17, at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church (501 N. Shackleford Rd.), followed by a visitation. Arrangements are by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Strong Hearts Rehabilitation Center at Arkansas Heart Hospital.
I am so saddened to hear about this news about Herb. He and my husband, Randy Hughes, were Reddie baseball players at Henderson. They were such good friends. Randy used to tell funny stories about Herb. It’s sad that through the years we all lost touch with one another - and here we are all in Little Rock area now. I’m sorry for your loss. May God bless you with peace.

Dear Family, We are so sorry for your loss. Herbie and I grew up together in El Dorado, and went on to college together. He and Stow were very good friends of mine. My prayers are with all of you during this time. Praying for comfort and peaceðŸ™ðŸ»â¤ï¸ðŸ™ðŸ»
Herb and I got to know each other after we moved to the same neighborhood in Little Rock. Even though he went to college at HSU the same years that I attended UCA we knew a lot of the same people from our college years. Many times we would stop on the street and spend some time catching up on mutual friends. Lots of laughs. GREAT GUY.
May Gods blessings of Comfort and peace be with the Delone family.
Sending prayers and hugs to the DeLone family! RIP Herbie! I've known him since the first grade and loved him as a friend. My husband and I enjoyed visiting with him when he would come to Hot Springs! He will be missed!
Growing up in El Dorado in the 50’s & 60’s, there’s always someplace where kids gather to play ball. From the DeLone’s on Laurie St, to the El Dorado Boys Club. This is where we gathered. These are memories that will live with us the rest of our lives & Herb DeLone was a huge part of this.
Herb left this world way too soon…!!
RIP,

Love and prayers for Herbie and Stowe. Known this family a long time as Max was a good friend of my Dad’s. Herbie was a great guy, always kind, always smiling. These guys grew up to be good men, I’m sure. Haven’t seen them in many years, but could never forget them. I’m confident Herbie is in awe over our Father in heaven, seeing his Mom and Dad, and friends and just the magnificence of his heavenly home. I know it’s amazingly beautiful, greater than our minds can imagine. Love you Herbie!â¤ï¸
