Ella Marie Burleson, age 95, of the Monarch community, passed away Saturday October 23, 2021 at her home.
Ella Marie was born November 19, 1925 to the late Roy and Dolly Austin on the upper prairie near Lead Hill , Arkansas.
She was united in marriage to Burpee Burleson June 30, 1944. Born to this marriage were six children: Charles (Sue), Mary Ellen, Diana, Patricia, Judy, and John Marvin (Jessica). All reside near Yellville, Arkansas.
Ella Marie was a wife, mother, and homemaker. She lived for her family and friends. Together she and Burpee worked to build a home and farm that they were proud of. Their goal was to leave a strong legacy of love and land for their children. ''Whatever else the family remembers of me (the mistakes, the tears, the temper) please remember my laughter and guard against ever becoming a grim and cheerless mother who is unable to see the funny side of life, even when things go wrong.''
Mrs. Burleson is survived by her six children, her brother Don Austin, a sister Ruth Lavon Henley, 31 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Burpee Burleson, one grandson, two brothers: Holly Austin, and John Roy Austin, two sisters: Virginia McGeehee and Mary Lynn Fry, three sons-in-law: Carl King, Clinton Hawkins, and John Meek.
Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm Tuesday October 26, 2021 at Roller-Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas.
A graveside service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday October 27, 2021 at Keesee Cemetery in Monarch community with Barry O'Neal officiating.
Pallbearers will be Dan Meek, Scott Burleson, Roy King, Brandon Burleson, Joe Hawkins, Bailey Burleson, and Jake Kelley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be David Meek, other family and friends, nurses and staff of Hospice Care of Berryville.
A special thank you to Tina Cockrum, Connie Winkler, Lisa Blanchette, Emma Johns, and Sheyli Hernandes, staff of Arkansas Hospice of Berryville.
