Gary Paul Chandler of Wilson, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021, at South Mississippi County Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 70. Gary was the owner of Chandler and Chandler Farms and a member of Wilson Methodist Church. He enjoyed working on his farm, hunting for deer and doves, and cooking out with his friends and family. He also had a love for sports; he loved watching sports and played softball for a number of years. Most of all, Gary enjoyed spending time with his four granddaughters. Gary was born March 3, 1951, in Blytheville, Arkansas, to Curtis and Ruth Chandler. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia Chandler; a daughter, Stefanie Chandler (Jacques) Dietrichsen; a son, Lindsay Paul (Michelle) Chandler; four granddaughters, Emma Ruth Wilkes, Hazel Brynn Chandler, Amelia Dietrichsen, and Birdie Chandler; a sister, Diane (Greg) Ashburn; two brothers, Randy (Sissy) Chandler and Kelly (Pat) Chandler; a sister-in-law, Shelby Chandler, and a number of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and also by a brother, Jackie Chandler, and sisters Janette Chandler Davis and Bud Jo Heeb. The family wishes to thank the staff at West Cancer Center in Memphis, the staff at South Mississippi County Regional Medical Center in Osceola, and Dr. Reggie Cullom for the compassionate and professional care Gary received during his illness. Visitation will be held at Wilson Methodist Church, 18 Jackson Street in Wilson, on Thursday, July 8, 2021, from 4 to 6 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Gary Yarbrough officiating. I am so sorry to hear about Gary's passing. I've known him all my life. He was a wonderful person inside and out. The last time I saw him was at our 50th year High School Reunion. He ran up to me saying my name. Actually he startled me. I didn't recognize him. He made my day that day. He will be missed so very much. Rest in Peace my sweet friend.

I didn’t know Gary very well but the few times we had contact I could tell that this was a quality man with a special sense of humor. Moreover, it is obvious that he was well respected and loved by his beloved son Lindsay and Daughter in law Michelle. These are exceptional people who are kind and honest. We are so sorry to hear of Gary's passing. The world has truly lost a great man. Gary was always so friendly and kind. He and Kelly were the first ones to welcome me into the "Chandler Farms Family" when Greg and I married. He always made me feel like I was one of the gang and we had many good times. Greg always speaks so highly of Gary and I am very blessed to have known him. Gary will be missed greatly by his family and friends and we will cherish the memories and time we got to spend with him. Gary was one of the finest gentlemen I have ever had the privilege to meet. His generosity in allowing an out of state bird hunter like me to hunt on property under his control will never be forgotten and is a debt I never could have repaid him.
