Larry, I remember you so well. We used to play together as children. Our mothers were first cousins who had grown up together as close as sisters. I moved to Virginia when I was 12 and saw you only a few times after that.
I will always remember you and your whole family.
I first met "Larry" as I knew him, in the 5th grade. He invited me to a church outing at a local gym and I will never forget his friendship and kindness. I have not seen him in over 50 years and I can still remember his smile. God bless you Larry, the world has lost a wonderful person.
I first met Sergeant Dancy when I took Thank You notes to the Honor Guard for serving at the services for my late husband, Gene Barentine. He was such a cordial and pleasant person. My present husband, Bobby Wilson, served on the NLR Fire Department with his father for many years. Both of us send our love and prayers to you, Rebekah, for comfort and peace at this time of great loss, and for the loss of your grandparents within the last year and a half. This is a large burden for a young lady, but with your christian legacy from those who you have recently lost, I know that your faith will guide you through this difficult time. Our hearts and prayers go out to you.
Buck, you are as fine a person as I have every met. I cant wait to see you again one day in Heaven. Thank You for everything you taught me, and for being a GREAT friend. RIP my good friend!
you will be greatly missed by all who knew you, we love you Buck!!
On behalf of the FBI Little Rock Field Office, thank you for your service, Buck. You will be truly missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you, your family, your friends, and your colleagues at the North Little Rock Police Department. God bless
Buck was one of kind. He never missed an opportunity to stop and say an encouraging word to me. He was a servant to the public and best of all a servant to God. He was always willing to listen and help in any way he could. My heart is sad and I will miss him greatly but I'm happy as well because I know he's with his Lord and Savior and that is where he wanted to be. Rebekah, I'm praying that God wraps his arms around you and comforts you. Your Dad will always be with you. What a great legacy he has left behind. Love and Prayers. Rhonda
Buck and I always called the Honor Guard detail a gig. We always had a heart skip and cry for each one we did. But this gig has a larger heart skip and cry. Prayers for his family and the NLRPD.
A Man of many Coats .
I’m grateful for your service to NLR and to our savior. Deepest condolences to your family.
ENJOY HEAVEN SGT. YOU MADE SUCH A GREAT IMPACT ON SO MAY LIVES. MAY GOD COMFORT YOUR FAMILY.
Honoring one of the best ever. May you rest in peace brother
The only time I remember Sgt being upset with me, he called three of us the butcher, the baker, and the candlestick maker. He quickly asked, "where is the police officer" Thinking of that now makes me laugh and miss him even more. Sgt. Dancy was the best supervisor, mentor, and friend, any police officer, could have. I will remember one of the last things he told me when I spoke of being discouraged with the job. "Don't let the negative win."
We are definitely heart broken to hear about our old neighbor and friend paying away. We had barely moved in when he and I started talking about heat and air things. He worked heat and air before he quit and became a police man. I always enjoyed visiting with him. I would see him in the yard, brushing enough hair off of his dog to make a while other dog and we would laugh about that. After we moved and my son was involved in a terrible thing at work (he became a North Little Rock Police), Buck was the first person I called and he reassured me that Cody was ok and did everything he could to let me know it would be ok. I truly miss talking to him. I also miss listening to him sing.i don't think he knew it but I would listen when he would practice a song for church. I could hear him from inside of his house while I was outside, he could be a little loud loud like that, and I just enjoyed the music. I know I'm not the first to say it but Larry will be greatly missed in this old world but I'm glad he is with his Lord and Savior!
Sending many prayers and comfort for his family and close friends. I have been in dispatch for nearly 4 years and even got to stand beside him on a couple of occasions at award banquets. I love it when someone who does the truly hard work, still makes mention of what we do in here and appreciates us as we do them. Rest in Paradise.
SGT WILL BE TRULY MISSED. MY PRAYERS ARE GOING UP FOR THE FAMILY AND ESPECIALLY BECKY THAT THE LORD GIVES YOU STRENGTH IN THIS SAD TIME. WE BOTH LOST A PARENT IN THE SAME WEEK. MAY GOD LIFT YOUR SPIRITS. I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL
I didn’t get to visit with your dad but a few times, but your grandparents, whom I loved, always shared how proud of him and you they were. You and Mark are in my prayers. Please let me know if you need anything.
My prayers up for your family and for your family in blue. I went to school with Larry. He was always kind, funny, and close to Christ. Haven’t seen him much since high school, but that man touched every person he ever encountered. So sorry that we have lost another class mate and friend. Rest In Peace and love and thank you for your service
I have many fond memories of Buck from my time at NLRPD. He certainly led a life well lived and had a positive impact on those who knew him. My deepest condolences go to Rebekah and family for their loss. Rest in Peace Buck for your positive influence will live on.
Buck you will be missed by many and left many great memories for us RIP brother
I knew Buck a long time. He was one of the real “good guysâ€.
Sending Love & prayers.â¤
I hired on at the PD in 1988 and left in 1997. I'm embarrassed to admit how long it had been since I last spoke with Buck, but have to smile at the thought of him answering me with a Donald Duck impression. He will be sorely missed by all. Best of luck in these terrible times to both his biological family and his NLRPD family
My deepest condolences to Buck’s family and friends, and mostly for his daughter who was my childhood best friend growing up. My heart aches for everyone. This man was amazing, funny and had one of the biggest hearts of anyone I know. He treated me like I was another daughter, and for that I am forever grateful. He did some amazing things and will not be forgotten. My thoughts are with you all.
Sending you prayers and well wishes. Thank you for sharing your father with the community. He has blessed so many. May God comfort you during this time
Can’t imagine walking into the DO and not seeing you. I’ll miss those times we laughed and joked together. You made my days at the PD less stressful and just fun. Hard to write this through the tears. Oh what a reunion there was the morning of your homecoming.
Love you Buck will never forget you RIP
Love you cuz never seen this coming !!
RIP SGT.
Buck was one of the best people walking this earth....such a good, Christian man . There will definitely be a whole in the heart of the NLRPD for years to come.
Gone, but never forgotten.......will see you again.â¤
Prayers Rebekah and Mark
Sgt. Dancy was a kind man. I am glad that I had the opportunity to meet him. Rest In Peace.
Sgt. Dancy was truly one-of-a-kind! I have had the privilege of serving with him on the NLRPD Honor Guard for the past 10 years. His laughter and smile were contagious! He was a role model for me professionally and personally, and I will miss him immensely. We’ll have the watch from here, brother... til we meet again.
An exemplary example of a friend & colleague. What an honor it was to know Sgt. Dancy! We love you. We will miss you. Please watch over us.
Buck, I hope you knew how strongly you influenced so many of us. You will be greatly missed!
Buck you were the best of us all. I always felt better when you hugged me and told me you loved me and I will miss you everyday. You made me want to be better and do better as a Christian. I thank God for sharing you with me for the past 21 years.
My deepest condolences first and foremost...Sgt. Dancy you have touched the lives of so many and will be greatly missed. As we grieve we also share with others the love and compassion that you presented to everyone you blessed. You officially gave me a title right from the get go as “ The Gravel Ridge Cookie Lady “ you LOVED my homemade chocolate chip cookies. In your honor Sgt. Dancy I made you one last batch and this batch was the hardest to make, but you was there making sure each cookie turned out to perfection and would be the best batch ever made.
I knew Buck for 25 years. I worked with him in Patrol and in investigations. You could often hear Bucks laugh in the Investigations building, that's how you knew Buck was in the house. He could brighten your day no matter how bad it was. I remember during a particular murder investigation Buck talking about the victim he said "they were somebodies somebody". That phrase stuck with me throughout my law enforcement career whenever I would start to let myself slip a little and it always helped me to pick up the pace and get back on track. Buck I know where you are right now, walking on those streets of gold hand in hand with your parents and other family members that have crossed over. I love you Buck and hope to see you again one day.
Buck was an exceptional police officer and a wonderful person. Our prayers go out to his family. He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
I remember Buck's first day at the police dept.. I had the privilege of helping him get his paperwork filled out for him to be hired as a police officer. Known him for a long time and never heard one negative complaint about him. He had a true servant's heart.
Many prayers sent out to the family, may you find peace during this difficult time. Thank you for your service ⤠from Hamilton Ohio
Buck was my friend. I will miss him greatly and will always honor his memory.
I worked with Sgt Danny for 16 years. I worked in the clerical area. He was always respectful and courteous. He will be greatly missed. Praying for the family.ðŸ™ðŸ¿
Buck,
Sir, you were one of the best teachers of work and life. Your relationship with GOD and family molded so many of us in the last 30 plus years. We will never forget you and will try our best to do the same with everyone we work with and mentor. I owe you everything Buck, and Buck family for sharing him and his guidance and wisdom.
Shep
Rest in love Sgt. Dancy. You will be missed.
My Condolences to the Family. They are in my Prayers ðŸ™ðŸ¾ðŸ™ðŸ¾ðŸ™ðŸ¾ From The AtlðŸ‘
Praying for Buck and his family.
I've known Sgt. Dancy for 26 years of my career, the past 22 years working close with him and his unit in the Investigations Division on Crime Scenes. I found out quickly that "Buck" was a very easy man to love and respect. To me, "Buck" was so colorful and bigger than life. "Buck" truly loved all of his people in the Investigations Unit and had no problem showing it.
I will greatly miss his him coming by my cubicle daily, making noises and throwing wadded paper at me, trying to make me laugh. I will miss his big bear hugs and kiss (ugh) on the cheek, when his boo (Dallas) was not around. Through the years, I cant count the times he would sit in my cubicle talking about our faith. I will miss you my friend... Love Ya "Buck"
Thank You for the memories.
I’m sorry for your loss of a great man, I know he’ll be missed, you all are in my prayers, Love you!
Buck was a mentor, college, friend and most importantly a brother in Christ. He is missed greatly. Love you brother!
Buck I know you are the happiest you have ever been right now. You served the citizens of North Little Rock with Honor and Integrity. You also served our Father well and that is why you get to gaze upon His wonder. Love you Brother and see you soon.
Sgt. Dancy was a great sergeant and a great man. He will be missed, but his legacy will continue forever.
To know him was to LOVE him. :-( Sgt. Dancy will be greatly missed for his stories, his inspirational talks, sharing of GOD's Love, & for just being who he was. He always told me "he loved me & that I ran Investigations & could never be replaced." Those words & talks we had will always be near to my heart. Definitely going to miss him laughing until his cheeks turned rosy & tears flow down those rosy checks in laughter.
His favorite quote he always said to me: I/you can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
RIP Sgt & thanks for treating me like I was irreplaceable XOXO...Your favorite Secretary
Sgt. Dancy was a fine man and he will be sorely missed. Our prayers are with his daughter and her husband.
Sorry for the loss. I worked with his mom at the VA many years ago
I loved serving on the police department & Honor Guard with Sgt. Dancy. I enjoyed hearing Sgt. Dancy singing along with the church hymns from the services we did together. He helped me with a lot of personal problems I had over the years & always gave good, Godly advice that helped me tremendously.
Love you brother
Honor Guard practice today was not the same without you. Although you were not there, your presence was felt by all of us. I could hear you talking to me like you were standing right beside me. You were paying attention to every detail and guiding us through every step. You will have a lasting impression on the NLRPD Honor Guard and we promise to carry your legacy! If I had a year to tell how much you influenced me as a man, as a father, as a supervisor, and as a friend..... I would ask for more time. Walk with me Buck, I need you more than ever the next few days!
Lt. Craig Edwards - NLRPD Honor Guard Commander
Thank you, Sgt. Dancy, and family, for the many years of dedicated selfless service and sacrifice to ensure our community has been and remained safe. My deepest condolences go out to the family and Sgt. Dancy's brothers in blue for their loss. Rest easy, brother. We'll take the watch from here.

You were always such a good friend, I will miss you terribly. R.I.P. my dear friend. Love you
💙💙💙
I had the privilege of working with Buck in the crimes against persons unit in the 90’s. He always had a positive attitude, was encouraging, big smile and laugh to go along with his sense of humor, and a very present love for God, his family, and the department. Buck was a great cop and is one of the reasons that the NLRPD is the best law enforcement agency in the state. I am so very sorry for your loss and praying that God will comfort your family. We will all miss him. May God bless you.
Larry...I can't believe this is "good-bye". It's way too soon for us at Levy Baptist Church. We will miss those solos, Elvis songs, competitive games on New Year's Eve, and your funny stories. We promise to take care of Rebekah and Mark until we all meet again.
So sorry for your loss. Prayers are with you and your family. God will get you through this.
Dear Rebekah and Mark,
Our love to you!
Our prayers for strength to grow through this time💙. We honor Larry’s life and most of all his love the both of you.
I worked with Dancy from 1991 until 2007 when I left the police department. He was always kind to me. He will truly be missed by all.
My prayers are with his family and our family in BLUE.
