of Marianna, AR
September 25, 1958 - November 19, 2020
Hugh Calvin Jacks, 62, of Marianna, Arkansas passed away peacefully at Crestpark of Marianna, Thursday, November 19, 2020. Hugh was born to John W. and Kathryn Jacks. He is survived by his mother, 93, of Marianna; a brother, Wendy Jacks (Elaine) of Palm Harbor, Florida and his sister, Carmen Phelps (Butch), also of Marianna. He was preceded in death by his father in 2001.
Hugh surrendered his life to Christ in Oklahoma City in 1987.
Through his lengthy struggle with Diabetes-related complications, Hugh focused his confined lifestyle on his beloved friends and family. He cherished the visits of his nephews and nieces, Mason, Carolyn and Maggie Phelps (Hugh Porter and Wendie) and Grayson and Kathryn Cline (Connie and Adam). He also enjoyed visits from Ashley (Little) Alexis, Carmen and Butch's ''adopted '' daughter. Their pictures and many of his friends adorned the walls of his room.
The family is deeply appreciative of the many friends that constantly contacted and visited Hugh.
Before the confining challenges of Hugh's latter nine years, he was exuberant oil field supplier in the West in which he made numerous life-long friends. Hugh's various interests in a wide genre of music, movies and sports were always a topic of intense conversation.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorials are sent to the American Diabetes Association.
The family will observe a private memorial at Crystal Lake at their home.
The Hugh. The legend, the music officiano, guru, a rare breed of a great person, man. I was priviledged
to be his friend. His courage, his humor, his heart, manifested itself in so many ways. He did not deserve the pain he endured. He is indeed more lucky than us, in a place of safety&peace. What a blessing to us all. See you on the other side Hugh. For real. Cheers my true friend.
Hugh was such a wonderful person; we’ve never known anyone so positive. We always enjoyed our short visits and our conversations about old friends from Liberal, KS when we stopped for a short visit as we traveled west from Florida. What became extra fun was how he became friends with our two adult daughters on Facebook and would comment about they’re families and travels. We’ll miss him. Polly & Chuck Vecchiarelli
