of Flippin, AR
March 31, 1951 - February 25, 2020
Berna (Risley) Deislinger of Flippin passed away February 25, 2020 surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born in Yellville, Arkansas on March 31, 1951 to Bernard Troy Risley and Anna Lea Railsback Risley.
Berna attended school at Yellville-Summit graduating in the class of 1969. After high school she enrolled at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville graduating with her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
Berna married David Deislinger on June 2, 1973 in Peel, Arkansas. They were the parents of two children, Devin Keith and Rebecca Ann.
Berna worked her entire career in the Flippin Public School system, teaching kindergarten for several years before moving to first grade where she finished her tenure after 32 years of service. Upon retirement, Berna became a fulltime homemaker, spending countless hours with her children, grandchildren and husband. She enjoyed quilting and took great pride in working with her quilt guild friends on the annual Turkey Trot Quilt and making quilts for the local nursing homes. Berna also loved to go for rides and road trips with David on their Harley.
She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends and remembered for her kind and selfless ways that brought her such happiness. Nothing gave her more joy than being able to help those she loved and cared for.
Our mother was a kind and gentle person, never drawing attention to herself, but preferred to be at work behind the scenes. She was the glue that held our family together with her never ending love and selflessness, always putting the needs of others ahead of her own.
Berna is survived by her children Devin (Christie) Deislinger of Green Forest, Arkansas and Rebecca (Grant) Greenhaw of Flippin, Arkansas; Grandchildren Baylor and Kenzie Deislinger of Green Forest, and Samantha and Kenna Greenhaw of Flippin.
She was preceded in death by her husband David, and her parents Bernard and Anna Risley of Peel.
Memorial service will be 10:00 am Saturday February 29, 2020 at Roller-Burns Funeral Home Chapel in Yellville, Arkansas with Jerry Greenhaw officiating.

i want to offer you my condolances in regards the recent death of Berna. We were both in the Yellville - Summit Senior Class of 1969 and I waws very happy to be able to visit with her at our 50th class reunion this past year. Berna was a classy lady and I hope that she always considered me a friend. Bob (Kenneth) Keeter.
I attended Yellville-Summit when Berna was a student there and admired her way back then. I was delighted to work with her at Flippin School. She was so caring and creative! She always had great ideas and plans for her students. Later, we shared the quilting bug and I was awestruck at her work. Berna was so very special and touched so many lives -- she will be missed.
Berna was a delightful person and a wonderful teacher. Her legacy will live for generations though the many hundreds of lives she touched.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Devin and Rebecca and their families at this sad time. I worked with Berna for many years at school. A very nice lady and a great teacher. We are so sorry.
