He was a farmer and rancher in the England area until retiring from farming in 1994. In 1995 he became property manager for ''The Ranch'' in west Little Rock until his final retirement in 2015.
In 1966, he was named Outstanding Young Farmer for the state of Arkansas by the Arkansas Jaycees.

He is survived by sisters; Louise Jones of North Little Rock, Shirley Walls and husband Tommy of Hot Springs and Margaret Jones of Coy and brother; Ralph Jones and wife Carolyn of Coy, daughter; Shelly Maynard and husband Danny of England, sons; Jeff Jones and wife Pam of Toltec and Bobby Jones Jr. and wife Beverly of Keo, eight grandchildren, Jade Jones, Jarod and Kristi Maynard, Jonathan and Jennifer Maynard, Cody and Jana Jones, Casey and Courtney Jones, Katie and Gable White, Jonah Maynard and Reilly Jones, five great-grandchildren, Knox and Marlee Maynard, Brody and Beau Maynard and Madelyn Jones, whom he loved very much.
