Bruce Crawford

of Mountain Home, AR

November 20, 1944 - June 19, 2008

Mr. Bruce Crawford, 63, of Mountain Home, passed away at his residence on Thursday, June 19, 2008. A "Celebration of Life" is Sunday, June 22, 2008 during the morning worship service at 10:30 A.M. at Twin Lakes Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Sam Bailey officiating. Burial is private.

Vernon Bruce Crawford was born November 20, 1944 in Vacaville, California to Leverne Frances "L.F." and Clady Mae Crawford. Bruce served in the National Guard and then the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring after 26 years as a Full Colonel.

He married Toni Diane Olsen in Mountain Home on July 25, 1964 and together they celebrated almost 44 years of marriage. For many years Bruce was a store manager for Sears and was most recently Department Manager for Lowes. Bruce loved his church and served on the Pastor's Council, was an Assistant Director of Senior Adults at Twin Lakes Baptist Church and also was the announcer for Upward Basketball. He was a huge sports fan and refereed basketball games and also coached football and basketball. He especially loved the Razorbacks and the Dallas Cowboy teams. He was an accomplished builder and remodeler, loved to fish, smoked the Thanksgiving turkey each year, and if he could, even in the snow, he would cook on his grill. Bruce was a very kind-hearted and loving husband, dad, brother, son and friend to many. He will be dearly missed.

Bruce Crawford is lovingly survived by his wife, Toni Crawford of their home in Mountain Home; two daughters: Kristi Renee (Robert) Evans of Acworth, GA, and Kimmy (Shane) Edmonson of Ozark, Mo.; 6 grandchildren: Ashley Moseley, Blake Evans and Abby Evans of GA., and Brenna, Cameron and Kasey Edmonson of MO; two sisters: Barbara Crawford Francis of Mountain Home and Sharon (Rex) Hunt of Springfield, MD.; and his beloved "boys," his two boxers, Buster Brown and Snickers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, L.F. Crawford and Clady Crawford. Due to Bruce's long illness, memorials may be donated to the family in lieu of flowers.

Arrangements are by Twin Lakes Cremation Society and Funeral Home.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Mr. Crawford's passing while looking up old friends on the Internet. It's been quite a number of years, but I can say with certainty that Mr. Crawford was a man's man. He was exceedingly kind and generous to me when I was young, and I have long held him in high esteem. My sincerest condolences go out to Toni, Kristi, Kimmy, and the rest of Bruce's family. May you seek solace in memories of good times and find hearts at peace in the days and years to come.
