of Little Rock, AR
October 11, 1944 - March 21, 2025
Anna Mae Suggs, 80, of Little Rock passed away on March 21, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 11, 1944 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Mother-O and Daddy-O. Anne graduated from Fuller High School, class of 1962. Fuller High School is also the place where Anne met her soon-to-be-husband, Jerry Suggs, which sparked a wonderful, fulfilling and deep love exhibited to all in their 63 years of marriage. From that marriage grew a family that has loved Anne immensely and learned from her the importance of unconditional love, patience and the irreplaceable bond of family. She remains forever our Anne, Mom, Grandma, Meemaw, Mammaw, GG and friend.
Everyone that knew Anne knows that her greatest passion in life was her ever growing family. She cherished spending time with her family above all else. Anne always had a kind and caring heart, infectious laugh and the love and patience to listen intently and be there for you no matter the circumstances. From our greatest achievements to our darkest hours, Anne's love, guidance and calm presence never wavered. Many readers may be surprised to reach this point in the impossible task of summarizing Anne's life without reading about her passion for animals. Anne saved dozens and possibly hundreds, of animals throughout her life, which include, among many others, a flock of chickens led by a rooster named Norman Schwarzkopf pet squirrels, rabbits, sugar gliders, an irritable iguana and too many dogs and cats to count. Every stray that crossed her path was treated with the same love, kindness and grace Anne showered on her family.
Those left to cherish the many memories of Anne include her devoted husband, Jerry Suggs, Sr.; their children, Jerry Suggs, Jr., Terri (Bruce) Boatman, Roger (Samantha) Suggs and John (Ashley) Suggs; grandchildren, Nick (Rosemary), Lindsey, Brandi, Jerry (Katie), Ronnie (Melissa), Jason (Shea), Drew, Rylee, Cooper, Olivia and Barrett; great grandchildren, Clayton, Braxton, Victoria, Sagan, Emerson and Morgan. Anne is also survived by her dear sisters, Allyn Jean Brock and Dorothy Turnbo, in addition to many nieces and nephews. Anne was preceded in death by her dearly beloved brother, Lee Goodson.
A graveside service is planned at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Ironton Baptist Church Cemetery. The family has requested, in lieu of flowers or other items, that donations be made to the Humane Society of Pulaski County.
