Bernell Stevens

of Searcy, AR

August 10, 1955 - March 1, 2025

Bernell Stevens of Searcy, Arkansas left this life for eternity with her Lord and Savior on March 1, 2025. She was 69 years of age and surrounded by her beloved family at the time of her passing. Her death comes just weeks after Wilbur Stevens, her cherished husband of 44 years, also left this world for the one to come.

She was born on August 10, 1955 to Thomas Nealy (''Neal'') and Rachel (Millwood) Irons. She grew up in a farming family, where she learned to work hard and appreciate loved ones. She carried those positive qualities and so many others, throughout her life. She was also successful in her formal studies, graduating with honors from Delta High School (Rowher, AR), followed by a Secretarial/Accounting Degree from Pines Vo-Tech (Pine Bluff, AR).

She would work in various roles throughout her career, including roles as a secretary, sales clerk, medical records transcriptionist, administrative assistant and loan officer secretary. Upon retirement from First Security Bank in Searcy she would work closely with Wilbur when he started his own telephone installation business.

While she was a notably valued employee, her most lasting work in this life was done as a wife, mother, daughter, sibling, friend and church member. Both she and Wilbur were members of Park Avenue Church where they attended and served faithfully in numerous capacities, both visible and less visible, throughout the church.

Bernell is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers, Johnny Phillips and Howard Hargis.

She is survived by numerous family members forever touched by her life; two children, Jason Carmichael (Erin) of Carrollton, Georgia and Melissa Morris (Jason) of Searcy, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Abigayle and Addyson Morris of Searcy, Arkansas, Brady, Rylan, McKenna and Keegan Carmichael of Carrollton, Georgia; one brother, Frank Phillips of Heber Springs, Arkansas; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and her cherished church family.

A visitation will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home with service to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at White County Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Awana Fund of Park Avenue Baptist Church, 211 East Park Avenue, Searcy, AR 72143.
