Billy Joe Thompson, 84, of Subiaco, Arkansas passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born on July 9, 1940 in Subiaco, Arkansas to his parents, Jim Thompson and Athie (Hampton) Thompson. Billy worked for Kroger as a truckdriver for many years and was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed working around his farm, taking care of his cattle and planting a vegetable garden.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-two years, Irba June (Gattis) Thompson; a great grandson, Cooper Price; four brothers, Norman Thompson, Doyne Dee Thompson, James Thompson and Osborn Thompson and three sisters, Emma Sue, Mary Koch and Ruby Jewell Thompson.
He is survived by his sweetheart, Mary Smith of Fort Smith; two daughters, Teresa Hessler and husband, J. Apple of Subiaco and Keri Zimmer and husband, Robert of Corning; three sons, Jimbo Thompson and wife, Lorene of Subiaco, Brent Thompson and wife, Sylvia of Coal Hill and Buddy Thompson of Subiaco; two brothers, Herbert Thompson and wife, Charlotte of Little Rock and Harold ''Wes'' Thompson of Paris; two sisters, Brenda Thompson and Judy Thompson both of Russellville; fifteen grandchildren, Samantha Schluterman, Olivia Schluterman, Tessa Carter and husband, Corey, Jessica Williams and husband, Eric, Loreli Mertin and husband, Scott, Freddy Bartlett and wife, Nikki, Alicia Thompson, Andy Thompson, Cody Thompson, Blake Zimmer, Katie Zimmer, Kylie Zimmer, Chelsie Brown and husband, James, Gordon Tharp and wife, Kayla and Timothy Tharp; eighteen great grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2025 at Roller Funeral Home with burial to follow in Ellsworth Cemetery near Midway officiated by Kenny Thompson.
Funeral Service and arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be DeJoun Schluterman, Landon Williams, Matthew Willems, Gordon Tharp, Timothy Tharp and Blake Zimmer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Dickerson, Marvin Spicer and Pete Thompson.
