Rome Bradley Carter Sr. ("R.B." or "Bud"), 97, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 15, 2025 at his home in Humnoke. He was born on January 7, 1928 to George and Alice Carter in Crooked Creek Township.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Nell King Carter of Humnoke; his devoted daughter, Barbara Terry (Richard "Pip") of Humnoke and daughter-in-law, Lasha Carter of Stuttgart and Bonus son/ special nephew, Michael Vawter of Mountain Home.
His cherished grandchildren include Amiee Mills (Brian) of Carlisle, Emily Shaw (Robert) of Carlisle, Joey Terry (Deidre) of Stuttgart, Anna Lee Powell (Colby) of Hope and Adelyn Carter of Hope, Jon Micheal Vawter of Mountain Home and Katie Vawter of St Louis, MO. He was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
R.B. is also survived by his siblings, "Doc" Carter (Phoebe) of Humnoke, Elbert Lee Carter (Janet) of Humnoke and Joyce Staggs of Carlisle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years and mother of his children, Berniece Carter; his wife, Cindy Bowlan Carter; his son, Rome Bradley Carter Jr. and seven brothers and three sisters.
A lifelong farmer, R.B., spent most of his years in Brummitt, where he and Berniece raised their family. In addition to farming, he owned and operated a body shop, passing down his skills to many others. A World War II veteran, he proudly served his country in the Army.
R.B. found great joy in hunting, fishing, gardening and being outdoors. He spent countless hours on his John Deere tractor, mowing or doing dirt work. Always willing to lend a helping hand, he will be remembered for his generosity, kindness and deep love for his family.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed.
