Jay Mobley

John Will (Jay) Mobley, age 88, of Benton, Arkansas passed away on February 12, 2025. Jay was born in Briggsville, Arkansas on September 14, 1936 to Elie and Luda Mobley. He was an active member and served as a deacon at Calvary Assembly of God in Benton.

He graduated from high school at Fouche Valley. He moved to Benton after graduating and started his first job at Jones Furniture Factory working as an upholsterer. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Betty. After Jay began working as a delivery driver for Pepsi Cola, he and Betty started their family. He then worked for Prickett Dairy for 17 years, delivering milk door to door. After this, he took a job as a truck driver for NAPA and stayed there approximately 20 years. He eventually retired from Bumper to Bumper in 2007.

Jay is survived by his Son, Paul Mobley (Linda) of Alexander; Daughter, Peggy Bailey (Tracy) of Benton; Sister, Sarah Venable of Buckeye AZ; Grandchildren, Mark Mobley (Victoria), Tyler Bailey ( Shelby), Kristen Long (Johnathan) all of Benton, Stephanie Williamson (Brett) of El Dorado, Rachel Cobb (Chris) of Bryant, Leslie Adkins (Reid) of Little Rock; twelve great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who loved him very much.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Betty Mobley; two sisters, Willene Armstrong and Undean Reed; his Godson, Matthew Rader; and his precious dog, Abbey.

Jay enjoyed life in general and especially loved camping and spending time with his family. He created many memories with his family and friends enjoying the Mobley homestead in Yell County.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 16th at Roller Alcoa in Benton, Arkansas from 2:00 4:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Roller Alcoa on Monday, February 17th at 10:00 a.m. with Johnathan Long and Sharon McCormack officiating. Interment will follow at Social Hill Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Mobley, Tyler Bailey, Johnathan Long, Doug Curtis, Bill Ford and Greg Ford.

Memorial donations may be made to American Stroke Foundation (americanstroke.org) or Parkinson's Foundation (parkinsons.org). The family wishes to extend our gratitude to Amberwood Nursing Home and Gentiva Hospice.
