Lavonnie Jean Allison

of Conway, AR

May 25, 1942 - February 10, 2025

Lavonnie Jean Allison, 82, of Conway, Arkansas ended her earthly battle peacefully and lovingly surrounded by family on February 10, 2025. While we grieve and miss her terribly, we find comfort in knowing she is at rest awaiting her heavenly reward.

Jean was born May 25, 1942 in Warren, Arkansas to the late Jack and Lessie Gill. Being the youngest of 5 and the only one with red hair, Jean was a spit fire and learned early on how to hold her own. She was very independent, strong-willed and determined. In Bobby's words, there was ''nothing she couldn't do once she set her mind to it''. Her sister, Jackie, taught her how to play piano at a young age and Jean played it beautifully. She also had a beautiful singing voice and was well known for nailing a high E in the school choir.

Jean held many positions throughout her hard-working career. During the first 10 years, she worked at the Health Department, the Pine Bluff Arsenal and the VA Hospital in LR. She then transferred to Fort Roots VA where she worked an additional 33 years. After Jean retired in 2003, she poured herself into her grandchildren, providing the best kind of childcare there is … a grandma! She selflessly took care of her last 2 grands 2-3 days a week until they were old enough to start school.

Jean and Bobby made several road trips all over the United States, exploring the beautiful state parks. Over the years, they took several different road trips out west with each of their grandchildren. Beautiful memories were made. Jean was such a loyal, loving and ever-present grandmother. She loved the outdoors and beautiful flowers, especially pink roses and hydrangeas. Jean nurtured several rose bushes over the years. One in particular was her pride and joy; a pink rose bush from her dad's funeral in 1980.

Jean kept two priorities throughout her life: Jesus and her family. She cherished both and lived for both. She loved fiercely and didn't hesitate to show it. A faithful, strong member of the Church of Christ, she shared God's word whenever and wherever she could. She wasn't afraid to speak her mind or her heart, following Jesus. Jean had a way of making people feel understood and heard. She never hesitated to offer advice and had a huge servant heart, always desiring to help people. She also had an infectious laugh and smiled with her eyes.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Demaris ''Sissy'' Peden (Sam), Jackie Henderson (Leon, Bobby) and Martha Hart (Travis); brother, Doyle ''Buddy'' Gill; brother in law, Joe Allison and great nephew, Jason Freyer.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bobby Allison; children, Tony Allison and Tim Allison (Mindy); six grandchildren, Zoe Allison, Ian Allison, Drew Colvin (Chase), Kate Allison, Cooper Allison and Kyle Allison; two sisters in law, Sue Wright (Butch) and Rita Allison; nieces and nephews, Brenda Kimbell (Mack), Steve Peden, John Gill, Vonda Miller (Matt), Taron Hart (Vicky), Larry Hart (Michelle), Michael Henderson (Carol), Sherrie Henderson Freyer (Mike) and Mark Henderson (Vanessa) and a host of great nieces and nephews.
