Samuel Rex Brazell passed from this life on Friday, January 31, 2025 at Hospice of the Hills. He was born in Harrison on October 11, 1930 to Samuel Green Brazell and Gertrude (Hardin) Brazell.

He was a member of the Arkansas Army National Guard for 38 years and was employed by them as an administrative and supply technician for 28 years. He served in Korea in 1951 and held the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He retired in 1985 to do what he always wanted to do, raise cattle on his farm in Harmon. He continued to do so until 2023. He was a faithful member of the Bellefonte Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Keith Montgomery; his parents; his brothers, Lee and Burl and his sisters, Martha and Isabelle.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Norma; his daughter, Sherril (Randy) Bowling of Greenbrier; his grandson, Derek (Krystal) Montgomery of Katy, Texas; his great-grandchildren, Grant, Jack, Brooke, Adisyn and Vivian; a niece and three nephews.



Visitation was held immediately before the service.

The funeral service was Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the Bellefonte Church of Christ.

Pallbearers were James Brazell, Robert Holt, Jeremy Hill, Cody Crunkleton, Rick Crunkleton and Louis Melton.

Honorary pallbearers were Aaron Horis, Raymond Still and Dominic Fontana.

Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery with full Military Honors.
