August 30, 1941 - January 31, 2025
James ''Jim'' Daniel Brazil, age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025. He was born on August 30, 1941 in Searcy, Arkansas to Crawford and Lois Brazil.
After graduating from Newport High School, Jim attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he was a member of the ROTC and Theta Tau engineering fraternity. Upon graduation, he married the love of his life, Jane Porter Brazil and they moved to Frankfurt, Germany where Jim proudly served in the US Army for two years earning the rank of First Lieutenant. After returning home, Jim began his distinguished career at Arkansas Power & Light/Entergy in 1966 as an electrical engineer. Over the next 35 years, he worked in various roles, including Internal Audit at Arkansas Nuclear One and in the Regulatory Affairs Department. He earned his MBA, became a Certified Public Accountant and made significant contributions to the company. After retiring, Jim continued consulting for Entergy for an additional 20 years, working until the age of 79.
A man of deep faith, Jim loved the Lord and had such a servant's heart. He was a former member of First Baptist Pine Bluff and Park Hill Baptist North Little Rock. For the past 22 years, he was a devoted member of Second Baptist Church in Conway. He served on several committees and was active in adult small groups and men's ministry.
In the community, he was an active member of the North Little Rock Kiwanis Club, Gideons International, the Arkansas Society of Professional Engineers and the Arkansas Society of CPAs, where he held several leadership roles.
Jim had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed working in his yard, hunting, hiking and kayaking. His favorite activity was playing golf with his friends regularly. Some of his best moments involved cheering on the Hogs in any sport and attending Razorback football games with his family. He cherished the daily companionship and the many travels he had with his wife of 60 years.
His greatest joy was spending time with family and being a ''Papa''. Many hours were spent supporting his daughters and his grandchildren by attending their events, games and celebrations, helping with school projects and building things together. His hallmark quality was having a joyful, fun-loving and adventurous spirit.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Crawford and Lois Brazil and sister, Peggy McCall.
