of Damascus, AR

October 3, 1969 - January 27, 2025

Tony Eugene Byrd, age 55, of Damascus, AR passed away on January 27, 2025 at his home. He was born on October 3, 1969 in Damascus, AR to Gene and Sue (Grissom) Byrd.

Tony graduated from South Side Bee Branch High School in 1989 and spent his entire career with Klaasmeyer Construction. From high school through his final days, he was a dedicated and skilled heavy equipment operator. He worked across several states and his expertise in operating machinery was unmatched. The bonds he formed with his coworkers at Klaasmeyer Construction were not just professional; they were lifelong friendships, built on mutual respect and admiration. Tony's commitment to his work and his crew was a testament to his character.

Tony was a larger-than-life presence to all who knew him. He approached life with an infectious enthusiasm, always seeking adventure and new experiences. Tony found his greatest joy in the outdoors. Fishing at dawn, hunting trips that spanned from Arkansas to Canada and ATV rides on trails less traveled were his sanctuary. He had a special talent for making these moments memorable, from landing trophy bass on Lake Fork to proudly harvesting his once-in-a-lifetime Canadian moose in 2024-a story that became a favorite for him to share with friends and family. Above all, Tony had a special connection with his dogs, who were always by his side.

He was known for his big heart and his ability to make everyone around him feel like family. Tony's presence lit up any room and his loyalty, humor and kindness left an impact on everyone he met.

Tony's life was a masterpiece of hard work, adventure and love. His legacy will live on in the stories told, the lives touched and the bonds built through his remarkable journey. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Tony is survived by his parents, Gene and Sue Byrd of Damascus, AR; his brother, Todd Byrd of Bee Branch, AR; as well as many other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Herbert and Vergie Byrd of Damascus, AR and Dallas and Gracie Grissom of Gravesville, AR.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Gene, Joan, Kelly and Corey Klaasmeyer. To Tony, you were not just employers but an extension of his family. Your unwavering support, kindness and genuine care for him over the years meant the world to Tony and brought immense joy to his life.
