Bertha Jean McGowan, 86, of Bono passed away January 24, 2025 at Three Rivers Nursing Home in Marked Tree. She was born on November 5, 1938 to Vernon and Thelma Birdsell McGowan. Miss McGowan graduated from Central High School and earned a BSE degree from Arkansas State University. She dedicated over 30 years to teaching elementary school at Central and Trumann Public Schools. Bertha had a deep love for cats and in her memory, memorials can be made to the Humane Society of NE Arkansas.

Beside her parents, she is preceded in death by six brothers, Rubin, Harrison, Charles, Ralph, Edward and Vernon and sisters, Louise and Hazel Clem.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.
