Robert (Bob) Allen Scroggin, 80, of Conway, Arkansas passed away on January 13, 2025. Born on December 4, 1944 in Morrilton, Arkansas, he was the son of William Alden and Melanie Claire Imboden Scroggin. Robert graduated from St. Joseph High School and attended Arkansas State Teachers College (now the University of Central Arkansas).
A dedicated member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bob's faith was central to his life. He was deeply involved in his church community, where his kindness and generosity were evident in all he did. He was known for his caring attitude, exceptional people skills and his unwavering commitment to helping others, both in his personal and professional life.
Bob's career was as varied as it was meaningful. He worked as a social worker at the Conway Human Development Center, served as a photographer for the Log Cabin Democrat and co-owned a men's clothing store. He also operated his own photography studio and later worked at the Information/Registration desk at Conway Regional Health Center. Bob concluded his career at Baker Eye Care, where his genuine care for others and attention to detail made him a trusted presence.
Bob and his beloved wife, Mary Lee, shared a love of travel that took them around the world. Together, they explored new places, created lasting memories and embraced different cultures, enriching their lives and the lives of those around them.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lee Scroggin; as well as his parents, Carol Balmaz and her son, Richard Balmaz; William Alden and Melanie Claire Imboden Scroggin. He is also preceded by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Imboden and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. WD Ketcheside.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Acott and nieces, Alison Acott and Sherry Balmaz; along with nephews, Blake High, Craig Balmaz and Keith Balmaz; Stepchildren, Allen Black, Reyna Black and Jon Black and granddaughters, Haylee Black and Kayla Black.
Bob's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His warm, compassionate nature, combined with faith and community, left a lasting impression. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held on Sunday, January 19th at Roller- McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, AR at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1115 College Avenue, Conway, Arkansas or a charity of your choice.
