Lawson Ray Barnes

of Mountain View, AR

February 15, 1960 - January 12, 2025

Lawson Ray Barnes, 64, of Mountain View, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at the hospital in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born on February 15, 1960 to Burrien and Annie Blackwell Barnes.

Lawson spent most of his life in Mountain View surrounded by family and friends. Known for his ornery humor, Lawson loved to tease kids and anyone who crossed his path. He married the love of his life, Sharon House, after proposing on their first date. Though eager to marry, Sharon's parents required her to wait until she turned 18. Her mother said, ''If you love him in May, you'll still love him in July.'' True to their love, they married in July and moved to Liberal, Kansas, where Lawson worked at a beef packing company. In 1983, while still in Kansas, their first child, Kayla, was born.

Homesick, they returned to Stone County in 1984 to be near family. In 1985, they had their second child, Bradley. Lawson worked at Blanchard Shirt Factory for several years and then finished his career as a working man at Stone County Propane from January 1994 until August of 2008. A devoted member of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, Lawson served as a deacon and cherished his church family.

Lawson was a passionate hunter and fisherman, but his greatest joy was his family. His grandchildren and great-granddaughter were the light of his life and he adored every moment with them.

Lawson is survived by his wife Sharon; children, Kayla Canard (Bob) and Bradley Barnes (Sara); grandchildren, Brianna, Alannah, Leo and Jasmine; great-granddaughter, Addison; his mother, Annie; siblings, Rickey Barnes (Deborah), Patricia Carpenter and Janet Talburt and numerous family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Burrien and sister, Reva Gail Reeder.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 10:00''''11:00 AM, with a memorial service at 11:00 AM at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church with Brothers Randy Long and Dr. Matthew Long officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sugar Hill Cemetery Fund at Centennial Bank, PO Box 1228, Mountain View, AR 72560.

Roller Crouch Funeral Home of Mountain View is in charge of these arrangements.
